I know that Disney is currently celebrating 100 years of magic, but why is there no 30th celebration of WDW too?:veryconfu
They have had one every 5 years (5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th) and they just decided to skip one?

I wondered the same thing, but I feel that celebrating Walt's 100th is more important than celebrating WDW's 30th. Afterall, without Walt there would have been no WDW.

Even though they have chose to skip the 30th in favor of the 100 Years of Magic Celebration, you can still purchase 30th anniversary merchandise. They have picture frames and a few other things that state 30th Anniversary

30th Anniversary...

I think they should have brought back the castle cake.

I remember seeing tons of merchandise, it's sad they're not celebrating. :(

It costs a lot of cash for big disney-style parties (25th ann., 100 years of magic...)...they were given the option of a 30th, but management decided walt had higher priority.

Am I the only one that thought the 25th anniversary castle looked like a big bottle of pepto bismol? But every1 is entitled to their own opinion :D

We have merchandise in our store from the 30th anniversary. I know you can get the merchandise at the parks too but you have to ask where it is. I agree too that Walt's 100 year celebration took center stage. When else do you get the chance for a 100 year celebration at WDW?

I Agree, I thought the cake idea was O.K, but why not make it similar colors to the original castle instead of the ones they choose. Oh well, it's over now, and we have a giant Mickey hand and Hat now. Glad the castle didn't stay forever.

I'll put it bluntly...

100 years are more profitable than 30.

Why is that?

100 years only happens every... 100 years. And, well.. the average person only lives to 76ish, so they won't be able to see one. However, 30 years will happen at least TWICE in their lifetime, rather than just once, thus giving them another chance to go see it.

Also, the weaseling off Walt for it...

I don't think that anyone should be complaining about WDW celebrating Walt's 100th!!! I mean...ok...sure, the 30th anniversary is big...but come on...WALT WAS/IS THE MAN!

Honestly, 30 isn't a really big deal... 25, 50, 75... those are the biggies... I remember the whole big deal for the 35th, 40th, 45th for DL... it was hyped, but it was kinda dull... Just my thoughts. Save the money for the bigguns!!!

I still call it "The Giant Marshmallow Peep"

Why don't they just make EVERY year some sort of celebration?? Party all the time! Party all the time! :sohappy:

I haven't decided if this is supposed to be in jest or not. Haven't you noticed that nowadays there's ALWAYS a reason for "special parades" and such? I'm not upset about it (as some other forum members are), but it does remove some of the "specialness" if every year is special.
