Why Do They Ask Those Questions?

F- Fails to accept the reality of running a business, specifically that it requires new revenue to continue afloat, no matter how large or well established it might be.

In this way, merf reminds me of my boyfriend. Wow, that's a weird statement.

My boyfriend hates when people are used as marketing tools. He hates when people think "Oh, they're doing this promotion for me because they actually care about me." As with all businesses, the ultimate goal is to keep the business running and to make profits. While getting to make people happy is a side portion, the main job is to sell. There is nothing wrong with that.

It seems to me that merf has more than accepted the reality of running a business - maybe he has accepted it more than I have, or some other people have. Maybe we want to see it in our fairytale Disney setting, but he actually has a clear perspective.

I don't think the point that he's getting at is that Disney is wrong for what they do, I think he just wants us to understand the realities of business and not naively think that Disney thinks 100% for our best interests.

Have fun at the beach and taking pretty pictures, I have to get ready for class.

Perhaps I'm just bitter and jaded having given up years ago on the fight that Merf keeps fighting.

Huzzah for perseverence, but much like HRC's democratic nomination campaign, this type of perseverance is splitting up a group which should be united.

Anyone can take pretty pictures.....

It is so much easier to get the attention that you desire when you do not have to go looking for it.

Standing up for what you believe in and fighting for what you feel is right is a great thing..no one should ever just give in just to make someone else happy..but sometimes it takes the bigger person to know when to back out of the situation..regardless of whether you know you are right or not and just let things go.

You can get a lot more respect that way.;)

I have never been asked questions like that EVER!..I ask for what I want and get what I want..no pressure for anything else.....and I am considered a "Worldphile"

Same here. Though the agent wasn't rude, she wasn't very friendly either. I had told her that for the time being I would take a five day park hopper pass, but that I may be interested in changeing when I get to the resort. She was INSISTENT that I HAD to do it over the phone at least three days before my arrrival.

The last time I ordered my resort over the phone, the woman tried to get me to buy tickets to the Pirate and Princess Party. She talked it up and let slip that if I buy the day of, I could get the tickets for half-price. When I tried to follow up with that new information she practically dismissed me as if I had some nerve trying to get a discount.

But, I have never been offered another resort other than my requested resort after telling the agent where I wanted to stay.

Suuuuure,
We'll let the senior whiner, re: merf, moan and groan, because he's been here. But let someone call him out,re: lil ol'me, well, we can't have that.

Besides, merf was more than a little abrasive to JP Von Drake. I don't mind if it is felt I should be kicked off the boards, just please explain why merf's venom is allowed....And reply in public, not just pm, please!

I'm glad to know there's a purpose for those questions. I thought they were just because Disney was nosey.

ok, forget this post.

EDIT: maybe i should read all 8 pages. holy cow.

Lots of people call him out and no one says you can not do that..but you are upset because of how he was to JP ..yet you are basically doing the same thing to him..

Steve and the mods do a great job of monitoring the boards..and we should let them handle it the way they see fit.

Is it really worth getting kicked off magic to have your say?

Sometmes you just need to let things go ( I speak from experience..;)) and let the people in charge handle things..they always do..:)

i'll respond -
what merf said may not have been right to say, but he never said a completely unsubstantiated assault of JP's character (already anticipating your response, so no, saying that what JP said was a lie is not assaulting his character. It is disputing a point and not in any way referring to JP as a bad person. In addition, he then backed it up)

You, however, threw out insults that you know nothing about. You don't know anything about merf, his life, or his history, so for you to call him an A$$hole based solely on comments that you have read from him is complete uncalled for. He may be a very good person with strong opinions. Your attacks were simply verbal insults with no productive content whatsoever.

Next time you want to "call someone out," do so in a productive manner. Otherwise, not a single person is going to support you. I think it is going to be a general consensus that you stepped way over the line, and now everyone is going to essentially start defending merf. Counterproductive, huh?
I'll say this much. Merf's conduct in this thread and many others has earned him the title given to him by geubux.

While you and other feel that it is warranted, there are ways to get your point across without being so rude that people will dismiss them. (not you specifically, just the term you in general)

If you say "I love you" in a nasty tone, no one will focus on the fact that you said "I love you." They will just focus on the fact that you were nasty about it.

Very true. I have thought the same thing as geubux many times and have kept it to myself but I have to admit his post made me smile.

a lot of people whine and moan and thats fine, but calling someone out on their argument and then just flat out calling them names and insulting them are two different things. a lot of people agree with you that merf was being overly aggressive about his argument, but theres no need to attack him.

in my opinion it was a stupid arguement to begin with. not saying either side was stupid, just that the argument itself was not important. but then at the same time, none of the arguments on these boards are... horray, internet!

remember that phone commercial a while back, where it was like the mother was giving the daughter a cell phone but they were talking with the tone of an argument? i loved that commercial...

"take this phone!:fork:"
"i love it! im so lucky to have you as my mom!:fork:"
"you are the most grateful little...:fork:"

haha, it makes me laugh

well, crap, now im going to have to read back a few pages.... that is, if i dont get enough drama over lunch. i could just tune into a soap. :D

figmentisgreat: the problem is.. most of communication is lost in "text". that is why we have these little guys (look right) so sometimes, being nice just doesnt cut it. sometimes it just feels better to yell a certain phrase when i stump my toe. kind of the same principle.
