Why do people defend Disney's snack prices...

All your questions and concerns can be answered with one very simple formula. If you think raising prices is going to hurt profits, do some research and figure out what the change in demand is going to be and divide it by the change in price. Viola...do you really not think Disney does the research and figures this stuff out? They have a whole staff that is dedicated to doing solely this.

I cant tell if you're joking or not? Or are you really that ignorant?

*can't.

The first rule in intelligence debates is to make sure that your grammar is on point. If you wish to continue to try to make this personal then take it to private messages. If you're done having your tantrum because someone doesn't agree with you then you're dismissed.

I work in revenue management for an airline full time and teach part time, so you could say a bit of both. Complaining about it is a great thing if you love wasting your time :) .Walmart sells a bottle of water 30 cents (in a case) whereas Disney World sells one bottle for like $3. Why? Because in both cases that's what makes them the most money. Argue how that's not fair all you want do you really think that's going to change anything? Heck that's not even a good example because water is free in the park you'd have to be really ignorant or an idiot to pay for it!

Disney World attracts millions of people from literally all over the world, do you think most people that go there expect any different? I went to Tokyo Disneyland a few months ago and do you know how much I paid for my lunch at one of their QSRs? Hell I don't know, but I anticipated it being between $10-15 per meal (I don't drink soda and ask for free water), saved for the trip, and had a great time!
Wasn't it J. Paul Getty that once said... "If you have to ask how much something is... you can't afford it."

I think the prices are too high, the government should step in and create a new Law to make any markup more than 100% illegal. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Disney charges increasingly ludicrous prices for things like water, and cheeseburgers. Why do people continue to pay those prices? And in some cases defend Disney's pricing policies?

I know we are a captive audience when we are on property, but does Disney need to milk every single penny out of us? And what makes people so happy that they do it? Thanks Disney for charging me an 57 billion percent markup!!!!

I hate the huge mark up too but that's no different than any movie theater, stadium etc...What I do say is if you don't want to pay those prices disney has no problem with you bringing in all the food or drinks you're willing to carry around. It's up to you if you choose to take advantage of doing that or not.

wow you're certainly keen on taking food to the parks, do you own a local store? Or is it something you practice your self and are keen to share the financial benefits from?

Actually, the majority who go to insult the grammar of the first poster have either nothing to do with the original post or question, want to prove they are superior, or just cant give anything to advance the conversation and require something to shut the opposition down.

Think for yourselfer
Original Poster
Tyrannical governments and upscale theme parks are not even close to being comparable. One can dissent and attempt to influence behavior till the cows come home. It is still an independent decision not defined as a necessity and will have no influence on the prices at all, unless everyone stops buying then they will have to lower the prices. No amount of posting on this or any other forum will have any affect at all. If everyone that reads this board stops buying snacks, I doubt that Disney would even notice. The numbers are way to small.

Wrong-o

Arsenal Football Club (5th richest in the world) instituted a price freeze for next season based on fan dissatisfaction. Even though they sold out every game.

But the dont have American owners. Thinking about it price gouging seems to be a standard American business practice.

Arsenal Football Club and Disney are two distinctly different things. Please don't try and compare the two because it's not even in the same (tee hee) ballpark. Two different business venues, two different fan bases both in complexity and motivation and, I'm guessing that Disney could buy and sell them 100 times over just with their loose change. Hell, I'm, at least, the fifth richest tenant in my apartment complex, doesn't mean a thing.

Not to mention arsenal pretty much has the highest ticket prices in the entire premier league. :hilarious:

"Oh, I have nothing of substance or any real comeback! Oh Wait,! I have a perfect idea.. Let's attack the typing/speaking/grammar skill of my opponent.. THAT WILL SHOW HIM!"

What kind of substance is needed to reply to his comment? I'm not ignorant or stupid. I understand what he's saying and I feel that my original comparison is indeed correct. Why are you so worked up over it?

Not worked up, just sick of seeing that kind of behavior everywhere.
(aka people trying to use the grammar nazi technique to shut down commenters)

second: you insulted his intelligence.

What do Nazis have to do with proper grammar? Besides, as you can clearly see by my picture, I would never be allowed into that club. They kind of hated minorities, you know?

(Ps, not sure if you are being serious about the "grammar nazi" remark that is pretty common online to explain such behavior. Technically nothing to do with Nazis)

And technically, I classify while I also classify as a Minority. I still do not see what this has to do with the real nazis who hated minorities or race.

Technically, the point would go over the person you're trying to insult or insinuate isn't on point. Heil grammar!!
