Why are women dressing as princesses?

perhaps disney should require women to dress like the princesses...i've seen many a young woman, middle aged woman and even some beyond the middle aged years wearing totally inappropriate clothing for the wdw theme parks..when I see them I generally give my husband a look that says "If I ever lose my mind don't let me out of the house looking like THAT...please!".

Course if you required them to dress like a princess they would just dress up like Jasmine or Esmerelda.

I tell you what was creepy, I saw a woman, she must have been about 50, and was wearing what must have been a large kids snow white costume. She was walking round MGM in it.
The thing was it was really disturbing because she looked like she should have been in some sort of distorted WDW, it was like Snow White had gone to the streets or something. Because she was adult sized, it was like she was wearing a mini skirt, wasn't pleasant.

I wouldn't want to go to the park with my wife if she dressed as a princess while there, but if she were to wear it at home I guess it would be OK :drevil:

*back to reality*

I saw something like that on youtube.com. I believe it was a skit from "Mad TV" or something. Then there was "Stripperella."

I do wonder whether they would stop a big, fat, hairy guy dressed as a princess from going into the parks. There's no chance anybody would think this guy is a real princess. Maybe some confusion. But it sure would be funny.

I guess there's only one way to find out.

It isn't so much a bad thing, or having a problem with it. It is just that Disney does not allow adults to wear costumes to the parks outside of Halloween (and apparently SWW). That is the rules.

The rules are one thing. Those are the rules, fine. But the OP didn't have a problem with these ladies breaking the rules, he had a problem with the simple fact if them dressing like this in public. That's what is bothering me.

It might not have been a child costume-- there is an adult version of Show White exactly as you described. I've seen it a few times. It's... special  but I can think of 7 little men who must be happy :lookaroun

I was looking back at the photos from our recent WDW trip, and came upon some photos we took of two women dressed in princess costumes.

As we waited for our boat to arrive at the MK boat dock, we noticed a group of people walk up, two of whom were dressed in princess outfits, with the crown, wand (I think)... the whole works. Mind you, they were not kids, they were at least 17+ (if not older), and they did not appear to be mentally challenged...so what is the deal with this?

What are these girls/women thinking? I'm sorry, but it was just bizarre. :lookaroun I was done dressing up for Halloween by 6th grade. They probably just wanted the attention, but come on! The parents need to step in and say, "you're no longer age 7 - time to grow up."

Anyone else noticing this in the parks? It's the first time I've seen something like this.

I'll try to post some photos in my photo album (never done it before so please be patient!)

o_O I spent a day in an amusement park this week dressed entirely in a German soccer kit...and I'm 17. Sometimes, its just fun to act rediculous...

...and Disney is the place to do it. I intend to spend days there dressed in soccer kits xD It's just an expression of an interest, not a sign of immaturity.

I would hope they wouldn't be allowed in if they were really in full garb...just because you wouldn't want to get them confused with a CM...however, this is WDW and I would hope you wouldn't need a reason or excuse for being a princess no matter how old you are...sheesh!

It was probably just for fun. People care too much about stupid stuff. Go to Disney, have a good time, dress like a princess even if you are 30 or 40 or 50 or 94, it's Disney, welcome to being a kid again. I doubt they did it for attention, but i don't know them, so I'll stop here. :)

Sometimes you don't even need a costume for that. I wore a light blue shirt one day and had a mother ask me to play along because her son was certain I was Cinderella. :king:

Aw, that's sweet. It's because you are a beautiful princess, Erika.

That sort of thing has happened to me before, too. Little girls would come up to me and ask, "Where's Belle?" Stinkin' little brats.

Since costuming for Mardi Gras is interesting here; I don't think I would bat an eyelash at someone costuming at WDW Come here for Mardi Gras and I'll show you my best friend who goes in full body paint; and nothing else.....

The closest thing to this situation that I have ever seen was a pair of sisters celebrating their joint Bat Mitzvah. It was hard to ignore the cast members staring at them the entire day.

Every post has a reason...I was so ready to dress in full Princess garb for my next trip (trust me when I say no one, no matter how small, would mistake me for a "real" Disney princess). Now I know to save it for the Halloween party. Thanks everyone!
