Trip Report Whoa, Wait a Minute......Weren't You JUST There??!! *COMPLETED*

Hi, my name is Tuvalu and I am a Disneyholic.

(Go on, respond "Hi Tuvalu." I'll wait.)

My last trip to WDW was June 4-12, 2016. Before that May 3-8, 2016. Before that April 3-9, 2016. And my first trip of 2016 was February 18-22. If you are curious about those trip reports, they can be found here:

February ~ http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/up-where-they-walk-up-where-they-run-19-3-miles.910930/ (Written by my DDD ~ Darling Disney Daughter :p)
April ~ http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/go-with-the-flow-its-spring-break-you-know-completed.912354/
May ~ http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/relaxin-on-the-rue-dbaga-completed.913182/

In the interest of full disclosure, I have three more trips planned for 2016 ~ July, October and December.

Can't. Stop. Going.

It is never my intention to be boastful about my vacation frequency. I am very aware of how fortunate I am. If not for the good friends I have made on this site, I would not be posting trip reports at all. So a big thank you to all who have encouraged and supported me. Your kindness means a lot.

Now, on with our most recent adventure!

The deets:
Cast ~ Tuvalu, Woody and Em
Date ~ June 4-12, 2016
Resorts ~ Port Orleans French Quarter & Polynesian Village

Did we have fun? You betcha! Even Tropical Storm Colin couldn't dampen our joy :D.

Stay tuned....

I intentionally picked POFQ for our first night so that we could take the boat to Disney Springs ~ it's such a relaxing way to get there, an attraction in itself. Em captured some great shots.

It was HOT waiting for the boat. There were a couple of umbrellas providing escape from the relentless sun and the 3 of us crammed under one as best as we could. A "know-it-all" lady behind us kept us entertained as she loudly talked (to no one in particular) about her family's cruise on the Disney Magic 15 years ago. It didn't sound like she had cruised since then, but she was gladly sharing her expertise.

We happily found seats on the boat away from her and settled in for the ride.

We'd be eating at The Boathouse...just not tonight. ;)

And, the gabby "experts" are out there for the park attractions, as well as the cruises. One of the most hilarious moments I had back in May was when I was on the Great Movie Ride. A family was in the bench in front of me, and the woman said something to the effect of, "Oh, here it comes, kids, my favorite part, I know this scene ahead--it's from Alice in Wonderland!"  (Um . . . it was the Wizard of Oz scene . ..)

This would be what we refer to as a "snippet" in our vacation journals. We love rereading the hilarious things people say!

So that means that there's a heap of us (prior to 1980) Un-Millennials too!! I have a new title! I just made that up. :p
While I appreciate your new title, the more common titles are Gen-Xers (born 1965-1980), Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964) and Greatest Generation/Traditionalist (born 1900-1945).

Yet I suppose we can channel our inner Alice in Wonderland and be Un-Millennials! :joyfull:

It was definitely much warmer (and more humid) this evening than our visit to Disney Springs last month! We had about an hour before we were to meet our friends, so we decided to walk over to the new Town Center and check it out.

Em couldn't resist photographing the Lego mural. I think it was because she has Disneyland on the brain. She had wanted us to go for the 60th Diamond Celebration but we couldn't make it work. Instead, we are planning a coast-to-coast DL/WDW adventure to commemorate her graduation from grad school. :)

Em and I were very excited to explore the Lilly Pulitzer and Vera Bradley stores. The merchandise in both was pretty and fun...the price tags, however, were neither! While my wallet stayed closed (@epcotisbest ;)) Em had to buy something from Lilly Pulitzer...a very un-nerdy strap for her sunglasses (@Doc Disney ;)). I think she was more excited about the really cool bag her purchase was placed in than the strap itself!

As we continued our walk around Town Center, we finally discovered the SPRINGS!!

This area is very picturesque and gazing upon the Springs made me (temporarily) forget the mass quantity of sweat dripping down my back! The red umbrellas are on the porch of Sprinkles, a place I really wanted to check out, despite the "Mom, you're not going to like Sprinkles" counsel Em gave me (*foreshadowing*). The line was way out the door and we did not have time to wait as it was approaching the hour we were to meet our friends.

We were thankful for the new bridge that got us quickly back to the Marketplace. Our friends, M&K, were waiting for us at Earl of Sandwich. We managed to snag a table inside (gosh, the a/c felt great!!!) and the order line was not too bad. The Holiday Turkey is my favorite sandwich but I have to confess this one was disappointing. The bread was crumbly and there was twice as much cranberry as turkey...there couldn't have been more than a few thin slices.

Our tradition is to follow Earl's with dessert at Ghirardelli. K mentioned she wanted to try Sprinkles, but when we told her the length of the line she said ice cream was a better choice! The sun had set so enjoying our sundaes al fresco was very pleasant.

After a couple hours of catch-up with our friends, we parted ways. We had a VERY long wait for the boat to take us back to POFQ and we were exhausted by the time we arrived at our room.

Up next ~ Poly, here we come!

You're not the first one this year to say that Earl's quality has dropped. I've heard similar disappointing comments from others. I didn't make it to Earls this past May, (went to Wolfgang Puck's Express nearby instead--wasn't thrilled with their chicken plate either . . .). Both of these places were always my "go to" whenever I visited Downtown Disney (do I have to call it Disney Springs now? :depressed: ). But I'm seriously beginning to wonder if either one of those restaurants are worth it anymore. :(

Oh man I need to check this out...haha I still have my nerdy sunglasses strap and I loved having a strap so if I can find a cute one that would be great :)
It's super cute!! And the bag it comes in is adorable, but I have a shopping bag collection problem. You just never know when you might need one!

Mom also forgot to mention my *ahem* expensive purchase of a new Disney Dooney. Maybe that's why I only had $14 to spend on a Lilly glasses strap!

I'm more of a Vera Bradley girl myself but I really like the Dooneys. I may have to get into those! I am also obsessed with the Disney Coach line but I know I can't afford it haha. I also like shopping bags...I guess maybe because I just like shopping in general :)
