I stumbled upon the jim hill media website and I'm wondering how does this website get all this information who is in charge of this website?

People will bash, flame and redicule him here, but Jim Hill runs the site(!) and he has access to a lot of valid info. His writing style takes some getting used to, but he does know an awful lot about the parks past and future.

He is also a very nice guy to chat to in person.

Yes but how does he get all this information?

I wouldn't. Yesterday I found fantastic informations about the never-built awsome "Space"-pavilion and the first pictures of the cancelled Mt. Fuji-rollercoaster. Thanks a lot Mr. Hill.

Jim Hill appears to be as correct as the "experts" who post here. However the difference is that the "experts" post HERE and therefore, Jim Hill's an idiot and does not know how to write anything. :ROFLOL:

It would be a funny statement if it wasn't the perception that any newcomer gets trolling these forums. EVERY SINGLE post about Jim Hill (except this one it seems), usually starts: I saw a rumor on JMH (so take it with a grain of salt!).....

Yet when other experts post rumors on WDWMagic, everyone starts gathering around for the back slapping and "geez youre great!" tug fest on each other. I remember that JHM was probably the first to report that the Liberty Square bridge/walkway had to be replaced becuase they inspected it and found that it rotted away and that the parades would probably have to cancelled while it went on. HOLY SCHNEIKIES!! The "he's full of crap" crowd came crawling out of the wood work almost solely becuase it was a JHM statement. Turns out...he was right. And don't give me the blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile crap.

It just seems that some of the posters here are blind to any "confirmed rumor" posted here just as long as its somebody who is doing the posting has a high post count. WHOOPIE!!! I have no job or anything else to do and therefore I can post 7000+ times inside of 2 years....therefore....I must be and expert and cannot be questioned!! I've been a member for 5 years and I have less than 200 posts. Yet I could tell you just about anything you wanted to know about WDW, Walt Disney, etc.

And when it comes to experts and post counts, it has been proven before that there were "imposters" on these forums that basically posted stuff just to see what kind of reaction they could get out of people. And becuase they had post counts, it would seem nobody even 2nd guessed their info or motives.

So in the end, JHM is just a rumor mill site and not much different than WDWMagic's forums. A rumor is a rumor and I will believe it when I see the thing. Flame me if you want, but I'm certainly entitled to my opinion on the subject just like all of the "experts" here are entitled to their opinion on their "facts" and JHM's "make beleive". :animwink:

The thing I don't like is how everyone jumps on the bandwagon with not liking him.

Why should people not like him? I mean, even if the rumors are wrong, there is a LOT of nice stuff on his site, a lot of concept I found nowhere else so far (e.g. the Mt. Fuji. Rollercoaster pics) and he writes a lot about past plans, designs etc. that is definitely true because it was stated in a lot of official statements.

Just interested.

Do you have a link to the Mt. Fuji pictures, or anything that could help me find them as I can't find them at all on the site.

I don't think that the Info he gets is wrong, I just think that official plans get changed, and then everyone goes AHAH! I really think he knows what he's talking about. I can spend hours soaking up knowledge from his articles.

I like how he makes fun of bratty Disney enthusiasts.

Jim Hill writes some interesting articles, and I do read his site. That said, he mostly is a salt shaker, spreading rumors from around the net to the masses. Nothing wrong with it, just take what he says for what it is...speculation.

I heard that he masquerades on these boards as various users (different user names linked to different email accounts), and that his user names often make reference to extinct attractions... :lookaroun

No offence to the guy Im sure his mother loves him, but the question should be what is Jim Hill?

But thats speaking as someone who only gives a monkeys about new rides once they actually exist.

While I sometimes feel is style and tone are, for lack of a better word, obnoxious, I do enjoy his information on Disney and related matter. Makes for good conversations here. :ROFLOL:

My only real beef with the him is that he should employ an editor, or do a better editing job himself, as the articles sometimes have bad spelling or grammatical errors. I know I'm nit-picking, but no one will ever get hired with spelling errors on a resume. How often is something spelled incorrectly or a double preposition is used, etc. in a major newspaper? Just my thought.

Just make sure you have that salt handy when you read an article.

I personally enjoy his stuff, it's informative as long as you have your salt.

I like Jim Hills site. It's a veritable treasure trove for the Disney enthusiast.

Why he, and several other bloggers who shall remain unnamed, are derided so much on this forum I'll never understand.
