Join the "old geezer" crowd, but watch out for the "young whipper snappers"!

What about TOTO, Quarterflash, Pat Benatar and Renaissance?

Still have these on the shiny black substance known as VINYL!

all good stuff... it's just not the same anymore...

I have to come to terms with the fact that I'm and "old geezer" now... I prefer to think of myself as a left over hippie... but with my oldest turning 21 last week... ugh! anyone would think I was the one with the milestone birthday...

Oh my gosh! Quarterflash! That was *THE* first video I ever saw on MTV when we got wired for cable! I think it was the summer between Freshman and Sophomore year. I dont think I turned MTV off from that point till at least senior year!

How about Cyndi Lauper, Devo, Asia, Triumph, and the granddaddy of all the 80s acts...NIGHT RANGER?! :sohappy:

Vinyl. *sigh* Unfortunately, kids today don't understand the simple joy of knowing exactly WHEN to hit the needle so that the record doesn't skip

Sigh..... Those were the good ol' days. Back when MTV actually showed videos. lol They ruined it when they started doing those shows. 24 hr music videos was pretty cool.

Devo.... Whip it, Whip it good......

Ok...well 2 of my 5 concerts have come and gone for the year...

How I rate concerts:
A. Sound
B. Stage Setup
C. Crowd Interaction
D. "Show"
E. Set List

1. Eagles
2. GooGoo/Sheryl Crow/Bon Jovi

Eagles: Farewell 1 Tour

What can I say 3 1/2 hours of just all around fantastic music. These guys sound just like they did when they recorded the albums (ok...so I'm only judging by what I hear ON the albums).

Not too many bands can play 3 1/2 hours, not cover everything on their greatest hits album...and still have everyone know every song!

A. Sound - 5 out of 5
B. Stage Setup - 3 out of 5
C. Crowd Interaction - 4 out of 5
D. "Show" - 3 out of 5
E. Set List - 5 out of 5

Total: 20 out of 25

2. Bon Jovi: "Bounce" Tour

Let's start off with the openers...

Goo Goo Dolls: In my eyes...the Goo Goo's did their typical routine...came out...played their "on-air" songs magnificently...but just kinda went off with the "non-aired" songs...and in the long run, it turned out to be more "noise" than pleasurable.

Sheryl Crow: I'm not a huge Sheryl Crow fan (looks aside ;) )...But...I must say, she really impressed me. She puts on a great show with a solid set list and can really work a crowd!

Bon Jovi: I have NEVER seen a band live that can work a crowd better than these guys! The set list could've been touched up a little but for the most part, it was great. The "FUN" level of this show tops the best of them. The lighting/laser use was phenomenal, the sound quality was top notch, and the stage setup was definitely one that will stick in your mind for a long time.

(These grades are for complete show...I will do one for just Bon Jovi's set after)

A. Sound: 4 out of 5
B. Stage Setup: 5 out of 5
C. Crowd Interaction: 3 out of 5
D. "Show" : 3 out of 5
E. Set List: 4 out of 5

Total: 19 out of 25

(Just Bon Jovi)

A: 4 out of 5
B: 5 out of 5
C: 5 out of 5
D: 5 out of 5
E: 4 out of 5

Total: 23 out of 25

Now...don't get me wrong, these are just how they lined up with the categories...If I had to choose which concert to "re-attend" I would say the Eagles.

Next Concert: Bruce Springsteen (August 1)

I was so bummed about NKOTB because all my friends got to go see them in concert and my parents wouldn't buy us tickets. They said they weren't taking us to see such crap. But I did have all the videos, tee shirt, pins, posters. You name it I had it. I was in love with Donny. I guess I have always had a think for dorks and bad boys. One of my first loves was Axel Rose of GnR.

Freak, my friend won tickets yesterday to see BonJovi last night! She was simply euphoric after the show! Said it was probably one of the best concerts shes seen. She didnt mention the Goos or Sheryl Crowe, so Im thinking it was all about Jon...especially considering she bought a big JBJ poster after the show ;)

I have to hate Freak though, because hes either gone to or is going to all the shows I wanted to go to but just couldnt do. BonJovi, Eagles, Springsteen....oh, Im crying now here at Misery

Im not a big concert person, though. Last show I went to was in 2000. It was Miracle on 34th Street, a big holiday fund raiser put on at Madison Square Garden by 103.5 WKTU in NYC. Paid a nice chunk of change to have rear floor seats but they were right in front of the 3rd floor section so we were slightly elevated, which was good, because you wanted to sit down while some of the, uh, more boring acts were on ;) There were about 12 acts. A Spice Girl was there, Lara Fabian, Brian McNight, 98 Degrees, Son By Four, Christina Aguillera, Marc Anthony, Destinys Child and yes, the dreaded Ricky Martin (and no, I wouldnt do this again, but let me tell you, he had the place on its FEET  ) Gloria Gaynor opened the show with her hit I Will Survive, and it was great! Imagine 20,000 people all singing that song at once  I left early to catch my train (and because I couldnt take Destinys Child~~And I LOVE Destinys Child. Go figure), so I missed Marc Anthony and the special surprise guests of Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson. Overall, it was something different, something to do once, but not again, unless, say, BonJovi or Springsteen were there ;)
