Which would you choose.....

If you had to choose, would you rather take a quick trip and stay at one of the deluxe resorts, or would you sacrifice the amenities of the resort for more time in the parks?

Us, we'll pick the longer stay any day of the year. We do plan on staying at a deluxe one year, but I just couldn't give up park time to do it. Your opinion?

We take breaks every day from the parks to recharge our "batteries" and try to plan in at least one rest day to relax and enjoy our resort...so, I'd go with the shorter trip at the deluxe. Although, once my kids get a little bit older, we might try a longer trip at a mod just to balance it out and see how we do with more park time.

Great question! And this is a discussion my DH and I have all the time! So our last big trip was a 10 day moderate resort trip and we were exhausted! I loved being there for that long but we were ready to come home at the end of the trip. our feet were busted up and we were exhausted. We did so much b/c we found it SO hard to get too and from the resort. After spending so much time in bus lines, we both agreed, that staying shorter is better and staying at a deluxe is the way to go. We love having other modes of transportation from many of the deluxe resorts and the added amenities. We have the luxery of not being resrticted about when we go on vacation and also, my folks are close-ish (4 hours away) to WDW so we can tie in a trip to see them and it breaks up driving. I told my DH that in 2015, I want to save and plan for a 10 day Deluxe resort stay. Its going to cost a pretty penny but we have 2 years to save for it. :) But that is best of both worlds! :)

I'd split the difference and do a moderate trip. We have never stayed at a value but have stayed at mods and deluxes. Just can't see a big enough difference between the deluxe and moderate accommodations to justify the cost/duration difference of a vacation. We have always said a 10 day mod stay would be just about perfect (we usually do seven).

My hubby and I have this discussion all the time. In 2011 we started out with 6 nights at the Contemporary (we stayed on a 40% off deal. No way we could have afforded six nights at rack rates). As the trip got closer we kept circling around a 10 day trip. We decided to add extra nights to our trip by starting out at the Pop, then moved over to the Contemporary. We converted our park hoppers to 10 days and paid out of pocket for our meals on the added days. We had the dining plan already attached to our contemporary stay. We added about $450 extra dollars to our trip by doing it that way and we loved it. I worried I would hate resort hopping, but it really was not bad. It ended up being our best Disney trip ever.

We always take seven to eight night trips and have done off site, value, moderate and deluxe resorts. Of those trips, we have done off site most, deluxe second most, then moderate and value. I prefer deluxe resorts, but would chose value or off site for a longer trip over deluxe and shorter trip. And that is not just for park time, as we like resort time, pool time, SeaWorld time, outlet shopping, resort hopping, DTD and much more.

I go once a year so the most bang for my buck for sure! The longer I can stay the better...besides, as far as I'm concerned I'm just in my room to sleep anyways! A bit of extra amenities are nice BUT not required so most times (unless I get a discount or PIN code) I'm staying a week at a value resort - more time in the parks please!!:D

We need time for things to happen.
More park time for sure.

For me as far as the deluxe resorts are concerned, they're all beautiful and I get why people who can afford them stay there.
but for us...the only ones that are worth the extra coin are the Monorail resorts.
We spend a big portion of our WDW vacation in the MK --We always rent a car and obviously the MK is the only park where having your own vehicle has no advantage over not having your own ride.
Having the convenience of just hoping on the monorail and being back on your doorstep is pretty awesome.

So to me the monorail resorts are the only ones that even enter into your question, and if there aren't any deep discounts we ain't gonna see 'em.
Bottom line...I'd rather be in a park than at my hotel ANY day.

oh and one thing I don't understand... @disneygirl76 can you explain what these words mean, because I don't understand them in this context.....;):

I loved being there for that long but we were ready to come home at the end of the trip.

We did a few days at Pop at the end of our last trip. We'd been at WL for most of the trip. Before then I'd only stayed in deluxe hotels - though we did FW "Cabins" when I was younger (back when they were essentially RVs).

I'll not be staying at a value again. Probably not a Mod either. They just weren't for me. If I cannot afford a deluxe, next step would be Swan/Dolphin, then I'd probably look to off property, or delay my trip until I could better afford it.
