Which would you choose.....

If you had to choose, would you rather take a quick trip and stay at one of the deluxe resorts, or would you sacrifice the amenities of the resort for more time in the parks?

Us, we'll pick the longer stay any day of the year. We do plan on staying at a deluxe one year, but I just couldn't give up park time to do it. Your opinion?

I am there for the park time. Longer visits in a value resort works for me. I haven't had anu problems at a value and stay mostly at Pop Century. I do love the extra comfort of a deluxe but can go without it for more days to play at the Parks.

Maybe if I didn't already have so many deluxe trips under my belt, this decision might be a little tougher. I just don't know how much staying at a Value resort for say 12 nights would affect my trip. I'd like to think it wouldn't but I honestly can't say that, so it would definitely be a shorter stay at a Deluxe. My DH was a big reason we began staying at the WL and I KNOW staying elsewhere would affect his trip which automatically affects mine....get my drift?

We need time for things to happen.
I know right!!??!?!! Sometimes, I think I do have a split personality and the person that says that is deranged and crazy! :) We'll call her Scary Carey! :) We were ONLY ready to come home b/c we were SO tired and my feet were DESTROYED!!! :)
Honestly I was going to report the post because I thought someone hacked your account. ;)

Very easy for me. The Deluxe resorts are simply a money vacuum that I do not need. There are only 2 things at a Deluxe resort I cannot do unless I stay there: sleep in the room and swim at the pool. All other activities are open to non-resort guests.

Admittedly, I've never stayed in a deluxe resort (although we plan to next time on rented DVC points), so I'm speculating a little here.

If I had to choose one extreme or another, I think I'd take the longer trip every time. We go to WDW for the Parks, not to stay in the best hotel, and frankly, while my husband and I are well-educated and well-paid professionals who try to conduct ourselves with class, we come from humble origins and do our best to live frugally (yes, I realize the irony of putting "Disney World" and "frugal" in the same paragraph). Given that we spend so little time at our vacation hotel, I just don't think that we could justify paying the typical cost for a deluxe resort room under any circumstances, and we'd certainly never sacrifice vacation length to do it!

That being said, our trip length is fairly set in stone because we prefer to go during low crowd/price seasons and don't want to take the kids out of school for more than a week, and in terms of accommodations, in the past we've always split the difference and gone moderate. I do think the values are a great deal -- but the additional quiet, pretty theming, queen beds and in-room coffee makers offered by the moderates are the kind of luxury for which we ARE willing to splurge and pay extra. :)

While I do enjoy a quality resort when vacationing, I would choose a longer vacation over a stay at a Deluxe Resort at WDW for the following reasons:

The "deluxe" title is used a bit frivolously, as there are few reasons to consider the quality of these resorts as being anything better than something available for less money within many major cities and vacation destinations within the USA. One of the perks at the Disney resorts involves theme, and that is not worth fewer days of recreation.

We spend a great deal of time away from our resort when staying at WDW for multiple days, so our time spent at the resort would not justify less vacation time.

As a Floridian, I would prefer a more posh surrounding at a place such as Marco Island or Key Largo. Those are the types of places where I would want to be pampered, with more time being spent lazing around a resort and room. Disney? Not so much.

This is almost funny I just had to make the same decision! We opted for 12 nights in a condo off-sight. I just couldn't do that legnth of time in 1 room with my boys (dh included) let alone share 1 bathroom with them for 12 nights. I need my 10 park days and a shopping day to feel like I've really had a great vacation so as much as I would have loved to stay in a suit or villa it came down to dollars and cents.

Most of the time I would pick a long stay at the value resorts. When we went in Sept we stayed at All Star Sports and relied solely on WDW transportation. Transportation to DTD one night was atrocious but other tha that we didn't have too many issues. In November 2011, we stayed 4 nights at WL and loved it!! It was so convenient getting to and from MK (the park we went to most) and we didn't have any issues with the buses. ALWAYS a short line leaving the parks at night.

We spent more time at the resort whe we stayed deluxe. Mostly cause it was easier to get to and from MK. Typically we stay offsite at my mom's timeshare and use a car. But we never take breaks during the day to go back to the resort cause it's just too time consuming with it being off property. That being said, we are staying at Bay Lake Tower in September for a 3 night stay after our cruise. This is our first stay at a monorail resort property. We will see if we will be able to go back to value again after this..... lol

Well- my hubby will not stay at value anymore.:( The rooms are just too small.:( He doesn't even like the mods much either.:( So... I voted shorter stay at a deluxe. But, we're saving for Beach Club some day. Trying Saratoga Springs in June.:) We usually stay for 5 nights/6 days/4 park days. We seem to be able to manage the "low end" deluxe that way, and of course w/ discounts.;)

You know, it seems like a tough one, but I didn't hesitate at all to say longer at a Value. The Deluxe Resorts are fantastic, but the Values are pretty awesome in their own right. And if it means more time at WDW, then it's a no brainer for me.

Honestly, I would have to say the longer visit - only because I spend most of my time in the parks. As long as my room has a bed, and is reasonably clean, I'm completely fine at the value resorts.

(Of course, I've got nothing against the deluxe resorts...)

this was really hard....as much as I am never ready to leave the world even after 10 days and as much fun as we had at POP, I would still pick short stay and deluxe...cause the few deluxe properties I have stayed at have been wonderful.
