Which Value resort would you recommend?

We have stayed at Music and I really loved it. The rooms were just redone two years ago and everything was very nice. We didn't have any trouble with sharing buses with other resorts either, but I have heard of others complaining about that. We also had a preferred room. :)

If I were staying at a value again, I would stay at Pop Century. My sister and her husband LOVE it. They had to stay at Sports in order to receive a room discount last time, and they said that it wasn't worth saving the money. They had much rather be at POP.

We are staying at POR this time, and we have never stayed there before. I was glad to read that you liked it. :)

I'm kind of leaning towards POP right now because I think if we could get a 4th floor lake view we'd have a chance at some peace and quiet. I am a light sleeper.
I absolutely love Pop. I'd suggest a room in the 70s section. There's no pool so it's very quiet all around, and it's a short walk to the food court/buses.

Last month, I had a 4th floor lake view room, which was quite nice, but not necessary for quiet. It also counted as a Preferred room, so I had to pay extra for it (not worth it.)

I've always been a big fan of the All Stars, and I've stayed in all three, Sports, Music, and Movies.

On our last trip (December 2007) we stayed at Pop Century to try something new and because most people rave about it. Overall, my wife and I didn't really care for it. As far as the actual room and resort amenities go, there wasn't any real difference between Pop and the All Stars, but on our visit we had extremely slow bus service the entire week we were there.

Both when leaving the resort and returning from the parks the lines for buses were so long we'd wait for the second or even third bus before we finally got on. One night leaving EPCOT we waited until the fourth bus before we finally boarded. That night we waited almost an hour and a half just to board the bus. And the whole time we watched bus after bus pull up for the All Stars, keeping their line to a minimum.

We won't be going back to Pop Century anytime soon. My favorite overall choice for the value resorts is All Star Music. I'm sure if you chose a third floor room in Broadway, Rock or Country you'd have plenty of peace and quiet.

I went the first week of December, and it wasn't that the parks were all that busy, it seemed to be just a problem with the Pop buses. Actually, the only lines I stood in to ride anything were for the bus to and from my hotel... :)

Maybe Transportation was doing something different that week for Pop's buses, 'cause I'm always the lone voice of disappointment around here when talk of Pop Century's buses comes up.

The main reason I'll probably not return to Pop Century is because I didn't feel like there was anything special or "above and beyond" what I've always had staying at the All Stars. A value resort is a value resort, so for me it comes down to convenience getting around, and in my only experience Pop Century wasn't as good as any of the times I've stayed at the All Stars.

Wow...many people seem to love Pop!

Does anyone know if the AS Sports rooms have been renovated??
If so, were ALL rooms refurbed, or just certain sections??

Yes, Sport's rooms have all been renovated. They are pretty nice to me, I actually prefer them to Pop. BTW, I stayed in the "Hoops Hotel" this past December.

Oh wonderful!

We have a preferred room booked, which to my knowledge means we'll be in either Surfs Up or Touch Down. Has anyone stayed in those? Opinions?

POR was so pretty. We stayed in the alligator bayou section, building 35. We were close to a bus stop but pretty far from the main building (which was what we wanted.) We were happy to be far away from the main building because it was super quiet back where we were. But yeah...the resort is gorgeous. I took quite a few photos.

I think that's a great idea. I would do the very same thing.:) I'm not sure what sections that my sister has stayed at, but they have been very happy every time & they also request preferred rooms.

Will you have a car while you are there? We always drive so while we use the bus system in the mornings, we drive back in the afternoon because at park closing it can take a while to get back to the resort. When we drive ourselves, we are back in our room within 15/20 minutes from leaving the park. We have waited MUCH longer than this for a bus. :hammer:

I read about POR and the Alligator Bayou section was highly recommended to me, so I requested it. I just hope that we get that area. :animwink:

We feel the same way about POP, we would go back to Sports in a heartbeat but reluctantly stay at POP again. The bus issues were one major drawback for us, lines to get to the buses and almost an hour and half to get onto one in October last year. We have never waited as long for a bus from Sports to come and get us. Plus, the resort is huge so it seems to us that it took longer to get anywhere. Sports is a great place, we have stayed there many times and would not hestitate to stay there again.

We have alwasy been in "surf's up" area, usually right by the pool, not behind it. It is so close to the food court and buses, you will love it!
