Akershus is GREAT, we did the dinner last year and are doing it again this year! Loved the food, found it to be very tasty and loved meeting all the Princesses before heading out to watch Illuminations from our fave spot :sohappy:

Mickeys backyard BBQ I have heard great things about but you just have to be able to get into the spirit of things as it is all about dancing with the characters! Sounds great and will possibly do it next year!

Ohana Best Friends Breakfast is BRILLIANT!!! Cannot say enough about it, did it last year for the 1st time and im doing it again in August and will find it hard to leave it out on any trip thereafter!!!
Great food that is brought to you as it is served family style, the bread is gorgeous and the POG juice is the best ever!!! I could drink it all day long :slurp:
The character interaction is GREAT!! Both with the people at the meal and between the characters! At one stage Pluto was following Stitch around on all fours untill Stitch agreed to scratch his belly for him :ROFLOL:Great meal and great experience you will not go wrong here

The Whispering Canyon Cafe is probably one of our favorites! Can you become addicted to a skillet breakfast? :lookaroun

I remember when Artist Point had a character breakfast (Pocahontas themed) that was very boring :zipit: . Love Artist Point for dinner, nice quiet atmosphere.

My DH and I did not like Whispering Canyon. It was not for us. It's just the two of us - no kids yet. I've never ever ever felt, through out the whole of WDW, that there was a place just for kids. But for us, the skits and stuff they do at Whispering Canyon was not for us. The food was just like any other place - nothing really spectacular - we were there for bfast though. I've heard amazing things about Artist Point. I'd go there personally.

Love and I just did WCC for the first time for lunch on his birthday on Feb 18th. We'd never been there before and due to circumstance, it wound up that it was just the two of us.

I was a little worried it would be too rowdy but our server was great. She was sweet and nice and funny but not loud or over-the-top. I think she correctly identified we wanted to have a nice, fun, lunch without a bunch of insanity. Other tables had more boisterous servers but again, I think they learn to "read" the table and play the part accordingly.

It was also a Thursday afternoon and the restaurant was only about half full.

They brought us an absurd amount of food for two people. It was all tasty though and she even made us pack up the rest and take it home, "since we already paid for it!" The cornbread was good and we finished our meal with an Apple-Caramel pie that Love REALLY enjoyed. (It was a cross between a gooey cinnamon bun and an apple pie.)

All-in-all, I think it would have been more fun with a group, but it was still a fun lunch.

We just got back from our first trip staying at WL and ate at all of the restaraunts there. I'll probably get flamed for this but I found both Whispering Canyon and Artists Point to be very average as far as food goes.

The service was fine, no problems there. I got a filet at AP and there was almost no taste -- plus, as it is a signature restaurant, it was 2 meals on the dining plan. Absolutely not worth it in my opinion. Their other items may be much better, I don't know -- my wife wasn't impressed with the fish either.

As a side note, we've been at AKL twice and have had excellent experiences at both Boma and Jiko, so take that for whatever it's worth.

We still had a great time at WL but we won't be returning to AP, that's for sure .. perhaps WC though.

Regards

Chris, you KNOW we ALL will be waiting to hear about all your days and nights spent at the Kingdom...my family included! Esp. since you are going on about the places to eat at the WL! Have you also given a thought on Mickeys Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness?

Really not to crazy about Backyard BBQ, unless you are intent on characters. Hoop de do is a better show and better meal.

As for menu's at the two locations, (yes I agree, menu at Artist Point WAS considerably better a few years ago), but at Artist Point, I would suggest either the Salmon or Buffalo (Bison). They have a number of good appetizers, and the cheese plate is often good (changes).

As for Whispering Canyon, a number of the entree's are good, but what you go for (breakfast, lunch or dinner) is the Canyon Skillet.

I would also recommend relaxing at the Territory Lounge for an adult beverage or two...in case you get the munchies, try the Honey Ginger wings, pulled pork flatbread or the cheeses.

Absolutely LOVE the planked salmon at AP, we had a blast the last time we were there, and they have a nice selection of wines....

WCC is alos great, the kids loved running around on horses and my twins were 9 last time we were there and my teenager loved the quality and amount of food that was served, my husband and I had a great time too, and were happier since the kids were......

We've never done Artist Point (we don't do signature restaurants at Disney as we are spoiled by all the fine restaurants in Chicago). However, I would pick that over the Whispering Canyon Cafe any time. Actually, I would pick almost any restaurant over the WCC. WCC has joined with Hollywood & Vine as two Disney restaurants you could not pay us to eat at ever again -- awful service and bad food (DH got sick on the meat in the skillet).

Again, this is comparing apples and oranges. They're totally different in atmosphere, food and pricing. It's a matter of what you're in the mood for as far as type of food... and if you want a casual restaurant with a lot of activity at WCC or more laid back fine dining at AP.

If you have to choose one over the other, look over their menus on this website or on AllEarsNet.com and see what appeals to you more. However, if you go to WCC, you don't need to see the menu... just as for the Canyon Skillet. If you have the time, try both restaurants. AP is two credits on the DDP.

By the way, in the case of beef, the term filet most often refers to beef tenderloin, especially filet mignon.

Enjoy.

Actually? You didn't have a Filet. AP dropped their fillet around Nov 2008. You got a "Tenderloin"...

http://allears.net/menu/menu_ap.htm

"Grilled Beef Tenderloin with roasted fingerlink potatoes, sauteed baby spinach, blue cheese fritter and port wine reduction $40"

...and saddly? I agree with you. We used to love AP, until the menu was degraded :( I'm still checking the menu every trip, in hopes the menu will be repaired :( It doesn't look good - in Nov 2009, they dumped the fresh fruit cobbler in favor of something that looks like a frozed fruit pot pie :(

You are correct Trot -- it was indeed a tenderloin. Frankly I was surprised by the overall lack of taste but fair enough .. it's just one person's opinion. Fool me once, shame on you AP. Fool me twice? Not going to happen :)

Whispering Canyon for breakfast (raisin French toast is awesome)

Roarin' Forks for a great snack or lunch

Artist Point for a tasty, romantic dinner

Wilderness Lodge is an incredible resort.. you'll love it!
