Which hotel?!

I made reservations earlier this week for my honeymoon next September at the Contemporary Resort. Now I'm going back and forth trying to decide if I made the right decision or if I should change to something a little more...honeymoon-ish, I guess. And I'm driving my fiance crazy because he just wants me to pick something and make up my mind, haha. So I figured I would get opinions from fellow Disney geeks.

So I love the idea of being on the monorail line, and also of leaving my hotel room and being in the main building of the hotel. Also, Magic Kingdom is my favorite park. So we're currently booked for the Contemporary in the tower building with a theme park view and deluxe dining. Here are the other two options I can;t make a decision about:

1. Polynesian. This one seems more romantic and I love their lobby. But if we stay here we won't have deluxe dining (since Poly is more expensive). I love their lobby more than Contemporary's...but they don't have hotel rooms in that building, we'd be walking over to it. But we'd be on the beach walking over to it! But no deluxe dining...so no California Grill or Narcooses.

2. Beach Club/Boardwalk Inn
These are less expensive choices, so we may even be able to switch over to a villa here. And it would be cool to be able to walk over to Epcot/Hollywood Studios. I've never been in them, but from pictures it seems like it may be a bit more honeymoon-ish than Contemporary. But it doesn't have a Magic Kingdom view.

Opinions???

My choice would be for the Poly and try requesting a room near the main building. There are ways to still hit your 2 credit meals without doing the deluxe dining plan, just stick to counter serve for a day or 2 or pay cash for 1 of your sit down meals.

Hard to choose...But, Contemporary seems awesome!!!! The dining experiences available are great. Since your favorite park is MK(like me), I'd love a perfect view and very quick transportation there(either the Monorail or even a ten minute-ish walk).

Poly seems more romantic, like you said, but my vote goes to Contemporary for convenience, nice dining, and GREAT views of your favorite park.

The Contemporary seems so unromantic to me. We've never stayed there, but eat there every trip. It always makes me feel like I'm at some business meeting. Escalators in the hotel, cold and sterile decor, people in suits on cell phones and lap tops all over the place. I can't imagine wanting to stay at the Contemporary when you've got 2 incredibly themed resorts right there (GF and Poly.) Just my 2 cents.

I'm confused - Why is the Poly more expensive than the Contemporary Tower? A Garden View room at the Poly should be about $80 less per night than a Tower Room at CR.

Beach Club/Boardwalk! We stayed at WL for our honeymoon, but we spent every evening/night at Epcot. BC/Boardwalk resorts would be great for that! Epcot is usually open the latest, and the World Showcase (and the Boardwalk, too) is a great place to spend the evening. Access to more restaurants, too!

If we stay at a hotel on the monorail track we definitely want a theme park view. That is what pushes it to being more expensive.

And my fiance hates the theming of GF, so it is definitely out.

We had our honeymoon at the Contemporary and loved it. We had a Bay Lake view which was great in the morning watching the sunrise. Book the California Grill and watch wishes from the roof. We also stayed at the Contemporary in 2007. With the refurbished rooms it is IMHO a wonderful resort. If you really wish something else again IMHO switch to the Polynesian. Also a great resort.

Congrats and enjoy.

To me the Poly is more romantic and you can watch the fireworks from the beach (my favorite thing to do). I love plopping down on a hammock and watching them over the caste. I also like the Poly because I have the choice of either hopping on the monorail to the Mk which has only once stop in between (the GF) or I can easily walk to the TTC and hop on a monorail to Epcot. The MK is my favorite park but Epcot has more restaurant choices. While I love the contempory and the views of the MK from the room there, I just love the atmosphere at the Poly and to me it was such a quick walk to the main building it never bothered us. It's really just your personal preference and I'm sure you will have a fabulous time regardless of which resort you choose! Congratulations and have a great trip!

I'd go for the Beach Club or Boardwalk. You don't get a Magic Kingdom view (obviously), but I find the hotels exquisitely themed, and the restaurants in that area simply can't be topped.

Of the two, despite the Boardwalk being my all-time favorite resort, I think the Beach Club would be better for a honeymoon. It seems more romantic. But if you like being out and about doing stuff at night, than Boardwalk is your choice.

Definitely stay with Contemporary. I've honeymooned there and it is our favorite resort in the many visits since, especially with our kids. Walk to/from MK, California Grill, Monorail, pools, MK view, etc. Simply impossible to exceed. We have stayed at Poly a few times and we liked it, it may even be a tad bit more "romantic" but the number of reasons to choose Contemporary ahead of Poly are just too numerous to list. Agree with the fireworks suggestion too. Book dinner at CG for 9 pm and stay for the show. Did this for 20th wedding anniv with champagne toast. Wow, did that bring back great honeymoon memories.

Here is a vote for the Contemporary!!! I love this particular resort. I have stayed there once and had a Bay Lake View from my room, which was awesome. The Theme park view is definitely closer from the Contemporary (walking distance to MK) than the Polynesian. I think the rooms are certainly well appointed and I like the idea of being in the main building as well. As others have said, the walkways to the Polynesian are all outside and are not necessarily along the beach. The pools are nice but I found them small for the number of people who were there on my last stay there, in May of this year. The restaurants and atmosphere are great, that I do agree with. Kona Cafe is one of Disney's jewels and I always have had a great time at Ohana's. If MK is your favorite park and you want to be on the monorail line, I think that you are making a great choice with the Contemporary.
As far as the Beach/Boardwalk/ Yacht Club area, I would pick these resorts over the others as more romantic just due to theming and amenities. My personal favorite of the three is the Yacht Club, followed very closely by the Beach Club. I think theming is your only question there, as you certainly couldnt go wrong with any of your choices.
Hope this is helpful! Marie

Definitely look hard into the Poly! I may be biased as it is my all time favorite but it is absolutely beautiful atmosphere-the greenery will be great in September!, very romantic, great location similar to the Contemporary of course, good food and more. Just a magical place to spend a honeymoon!

If you definitely want to be on the monorail line my vote would be for the Polynesian simply for the romantic atmosphere of this beautiful resort with it's lush grounds, hammocks on the beach and overall beauty. Second would be the Contemporary, perhaps with a tower theme park view so that you can view the fireworks from your balcony.

If this absolutely is not a deciding factor then I would also suggest the Boardwalk Inn. They have beautiful little honeymoon cottages that are concierge level that have little white picket fences surrounding them and some have little rose gardens. Very private and very beautiful.

Good luck with not only your planning but with your upcoming nuptials...

I'd stick with the Contemporary in the Tower not one of the wings. I've always wanted to stay there. We stayed in one of the wings years ago and the room was beautiful.

Congratulations!!!

Looks like a fairly split opinion on here as well...darn. I was hoping most people would say the same thing and make it easier for me, lol. I'm having a difficult time because as much as I think I would love the Poly, I just don't know if I'm prepared to give up eating at signature restaurants for it.

My sister-in-law spent her honeymoon at the Grand Floridian.
She said it was wonderful!

I would probably choose either the Grand Floridian or the Polynesian.

My wife and I (we are both 30) just got done with a trip in sept where we split time between BLT and BWV. We both agreed that we did not like BLT at all. to us it just didn't feel like Disney, it felt more like an ordinary hotel. We were so happy to switch to BWV. To be honest i'm not sure why more people don't LOVE that resort. You are right near so many things. You have ESPN, many great restaurants, and short walk to beaches and cream and yachtsman steak house!!! plus you can walk to both Epcot and Studios! You are in the middle of everything. To us BWV just feels like you are away from the "real world" more than Contemp, which feels like any other hotel. To each their own though.

If the choice is between the Poly and lesser dining and the Contemporary and better dining then the choice seems obvious. Go with the Contemporary. The dining experiences will really add to the romance and the MK view will be awesome.

The Contemporary will be less crowded and have fewer families and kids which will give some quiet opportunities for romance. You can always head over to the Poly beach for a swing on a hammock.

I did the Boardwalk for my honeymoon and it was great. There are tons of nooks for romance and the nightlife is great. But if you are set on a monorail resort you won't be happy there.

If you do the Cali Grill let them know you are on your honeymoon and ask them for the wine room. It's a quiet separate space reserved for couples and small parties. The best servers work the room and the experience is outstanding.

Either way congratulations.
