Good morning you lucky sods that have stayed at deluxe resorts,:P. We always stay at mods but hoping to push the boat out for 2014 and stay at a deluxe for our 14 day vacation (your only here once eh!) In your opinion, what deluxe do you consider the best value for money? And why? :)

Sometimes the garden wing at the contemporary has ok prices. AKL can be less expensive for a non-safari view and it is a rather unique hotel with different animal viewing areas if you room does not have one. something to consider is Swan/Dolphin, it is not Disney but you get Extra Magic Hours (at least last time I was there), you have the same transport options as the Disney hotels in the area, you can walk to EPCOT/ DHS, and still enjoy Disney places at the Boardwalk.

Others already mentioned Wilderness lodge.

Whatever your theming preferences, you'll get a better value (e.g., pay as little as half as much) with rented DVC points than by paying rack rate -- making the lowest-priced DVC Animal Kingdom studios and suites, the nicely-situated and lively DVC rooms at Boardwalk, or the beautifully-themed Wilderness Lodge DVC rooms, the best value in my opinion.
Great advice. For the price of a moderate, you can stay at a DVC villa.

If you are just talking bang for your buck, I think the best value has to be the Dolphin. All the amenities of a deluxe (and awesome pools), but much cheaper.

"Value" really is a subjective thing, though. Everyone has to consider how much money they have and how much they like the thing in question. For some, that $38,000.00 castle in the glass shop on Main Street might be a good value. Not for me! But for some. :)

AKL by far. The resort is beautiful!!! If you choose the savannah view, upgrade to the club level. Its the only club level that may be worth it (minimal cost increase from the savannah view room). The standard club room at AKL includes a savannah view!!! If your planning on spending more time at MK, then WL is great. Love that boat ride from the lodge to MK!!

I like the way you think coachwnh. :) I was going to say AKL was our choice as well. We're trying out the Arusha view this time, and we've heard that the lobby is beautiful when it's decorated for Christmas!

We haven't tried WL yet, but maybe we'll have to after reading all of the positive feedback on WL.

Personally, I think the Garden Wing at the Contemporary is the best bang for your buck. You are getting a room of equal size and decor to the tower rooms for MUCH less. The walk from even the farthest sections of the Garden Wing is nothing IMO (took us 2-3 min avg to make the walk- never more than 5 min), so you also get all of the convenience associated with a monorail resort for a far lesser price. I know WL and AKL are the cheapest deluxes and people want to talk about the great themes, but having stayed at WL and been into the rooms at AKL...we felt the rooms were very cramped and that the lobby decor was much better than the room decor- i.e. I could visit the resort for a meal and get the best parts of the theme.

My DW and I own our DVC at Beach Club and her parents own theirs at Boardwalk. I don't know the cash prices since we use points to stay at both bit the great thing is that these parks are so close to Epcot and HS. I would say that is one of the best reasons to stay at these resorts. I would defineatly look into these resorts.

We use to stay at Mods (CBR, Dixie landings, PORS X 3), then we had the chance to splash out, 14 nights at the Beach Club for Tattie Holidays, it was fantastic, walking to EPCOT and DHS the pool, the restaurants having so many choices of how to get anywhere, Popping to the world show case for a quick pint! Then it happened when looking to book our next trip we had turned in to Disney resort Snobs!!!! We then stayed at Boardwalk and we can't go back to Mods having to travel by bus for everywhere. So we are in the process of buying DVC at BWV. So all I can say is if you stay at the Deluxe resort be prepared that you won't want to go back to the Mods, once Pandora's box is open!!!!!! I might be a little different for our state side friends but you really notice the difference when you are going for a fortnight or more.
You have been warned!! TTFN Jo

We went to Wilderness Lodge when it was first built and still being built. I dont remember it to a tee, but I remember that it was BEAUTIFUL and rustic. I love anything with lodge themes..especially the cabins! I am dying to go back to WL but we need to save up for it. Right now for 2 weeks it will cost us quite a bit more.

One day my friend, one day........;)
