Where would you rather go Cars Land or New Fantasyland?

CarsLand by a billion percent. We have annual passes to WDW and I really don't care if we ever do anything in the FLE again. The FLE was a complete letdown.

Even with just Radiator Springs and no RSR, I'd still pick CL over the FLE.

I've been to both New Fantasyland and Carsland. I'd say Carsland. Not only does Carsland include 3 new rides, delicious food, and an emersive environment, you can't forget that Buena Vista Street and the rest of the park offerings are a bonus. Besides, you technically get to ride the new Little Mermaid ride there as well. New Fantasyland is beautiful and a great addition, but not as great as the DCA redo.

Carsland has one attraction that I would enjoy and absolutely nothing else that interests me. I'm interested in several things in New Fantasyland, especially if we are talking about a completed New Fantasyland.

DL is so much further than WDW for me and heck of a lot more money on travel but if all things being equal, than I think I would rather see Carsland. I haven't seen either in person (I will see FL is 11 days - yay!) but from what I've seen in pictures and video, Carsland looks like it would impress us the most. I have a boy and a girl so we're kind of split but our whole family loved the first Cars movie. I think RSR, the landscape, and Radiator Springs in general would excite us more.

WDW is WAY cheaper and closer for me...45 minutes away...but Having visited both up close and personal, it's absolutely no contest. Cars Land beats the snot out of New Fantasyland. While FLE is pretty, there's no real 'meat' or substance to it. Maybe there will be when the Mine Coaster opens, but definitely not now. What DLR has done puts WDW of the past 12-14 years to shame. It really saddens me to see the difference in park upkeep and additions.

Cars Land is worth it. DHS needs it badly. I just hope it's close to as good here as it is out west.

Have you ever had a trip at DLR? Or just never been to CalAdventure? Cause if you've never experienced DL, go there! Cars Land is great, but not a reason to change your entire trip! Buena Vista Street was a real highlight for me and DL CA is my favourite park in the world!

I've known it from back when it was a parking lot. I liked the cars much better then. Real ones.

For all of its quality, Cars Land is still Disney moving in a direction I resent. Iger's Disney Parks - parks themed to synergise franchises. An entire land based on a cartoon franchise (well, toy franchise that covers the 2-6 boys demograph) is unheard of, and not the direction I would like to see Disney move in to. Gimme BVS instead!

I'm kinda' with you here. Next week I'm going to be seeing DCA 2.0 for the first time since since the Carsland/BVS debut but I'm fully expecting to enjoy BVS over Carsland. I actually don't mind Cars but I feel like I may experience Lightning Mcqueen/Mater/Radiator Springs overload by the time I get into Racers. Then again I might absolutely love Carsland. The detail however looks world class over the computer and detail is my thing. The subject matter though is just meh. We'll see...

We're mostly going to experience a Disneyland Christmas. Never been this time of year. Should be fun :p

Heading for the great escape.
We are going back to DL again this year. Yes the atmosphere is more local theme park than international tourist destination but its currently more appealing than WDW.

I'm more interested in New FL when it finished in 2014. I'm hoping to do a SoCal trip next year though so I'll probably experience Carsland 1st. As great as it is supposed to be, my dislike of the Cars films make it too hard for me to favor it.

Both of them seemed unappealing to me and I had very little interest.

However, Carsland blew me away. The detail is top notch. The rockwork is breathtaking. RSR is a great ride. You don't have to enjoy the movie to enjoy the land, as it, like the movie, are also well-done tributes to Route-66 era and traveling across the country. Its also kind of like Wizarding World for me - I had never read the books or seen the movies prior to stepping foot in Wizarding World, and I wasn't interested in the hype around it's construction, but once I went I was still blown away and I ended up getting in to Harry Potter because of it. I think part of it is seeing these lands with such dedication to immersion and detail, and having it all stay so true to the subject material, that you can't help but appreciate it and enjoy it.

New Fantasyland... well. The Magic Kingdom needed the extra space and capacity. The rockwork around Be Our Guest Restaurant and Mermaid is very pretty, but nothing close to the scope of that of Radiator Springs. I already had been on the Mermaid ride and its completely forgettable. A couple of nice animatronics, a great queue (at New Fantasyland), but what else? I can excuse the classic era Fantasyland rides, but in this day and age, having a new ride's story simply just be a cliff-notes version of the movie is about as lazy and uninspired as you can get. There are some exceptions, like the Nemo Submarine Voyage, where the presentation is cool and interesting enough to make it okay. Nemo at Epcot, on the other hand... just an omnimover. No attempt to fit it in with Epcot.

So what else does New Fantasyland have to offer? A nice restaurant. Well, okay, I get that unique and memorable dining experiences are a much bigger part of WDW than DLR. An awkward, overly elaborate meet-and-greet with Belle? Is this really what people want? (no.) What's left? A re-themed barnstormer. Two dumbos instead of one. A kid's splash area. Storybook Circus looks pretty nice but the offerings aren't much different than before.

The worst part of it all is that the grand opening will be even more lackluster due to the most interesting attraction being under construction smack-dab in the middle of everything for another year and a half.

I am not a Cars fan either, but Carland, went to soft openings when I was there in May/June... It was incredible how they packed in so much bang for the buck... The FLE will be nice.. but kind of a lot of drama for a copy cat ride and a few restaurants... We spent how much making that???

DCA was pretty cool. Just thought it didnt offer a ton though. But, nothing will compare to the offerings at DL or MK. Those were the baby's and had to include a lot. Other parks are simply outposts with spread out things to do.

You, my friend, have his this nail right on the head! I like how they say 200 and some animatronics... Uh... if you count 150 star fish twirling around an animatronic, then yes... but there are like 4 animatronics that actually move. I saw this in DL in May and was bored. Kids might like it, but there was no story behind it. It was exactly as you stated - cliffnotes version of the movie!

Touche!

I thought Carsland was fantastic but considering all the hate on here lately about WDW, it's easy to dismiss the good parts of New Fantasyland.

Visually, New Fantasyland is pretty spectacular. When it's complete it will look that much better. Carsland is also very visually appealing. It's fair to say that visually speaking they are comparable, but Carsland probably has a slight edge.

In terms of attraction lineup (again assuming Seven Dwarf's Mine Train is open). New Fantasyland has the 2nd and 3rd best attractions of either area. Having said all that, if you go to California you can experience one of those rides outside of Carsland and that shouldn't be ignored if you're planning a trip.

If you're just comparing the two areas I think it's a lot closer than people think, but if you're looking to make a decision based on recent additions, California is the way to go.

As someone who despises the Cars franchise, I can tell you that Cars Land will blow you away. All three rides are homeruns, IMO, and more fun than Mermaid.
