My family gets out to Disneyland every few years. I don't know for sure yet, but we might actually be going there in January if my husband ends up going to a conference he wants to attend nearby in Los Angeles. If he goes to that, then I'm going to fly out too and my son and/or daughter might join me for a few days and we'll have a "surprise" trip to Disneyland that we weren't expecting.
If so, then we'll probably checkout Carsland. The Radiator Springs Racers is the thing we'd like to ride. I am nervous though, just thinking about it, because I have heard you need to be very aggressive to ride it...get in line the second the place opens and get a Fast Pass and all that. My family has never been Fast Pass people. We like to just enjoy ourselves and happen upon a ride, see if we want to ride it, and then get into line if it's a 30 minute wait or less. But it seems that RSR is always hours and hours for a line so people are doing that Fast Pass thing.
I am sure if we do go to Carsland that it would be a once in a lifetime thing for me to ride RSR. I am curious enough about it to fight for a Fast Pass for it and all that...but I can't see myself doing that ever again. I am really interested in checking out the Buena Vista Street and then the little snack shops they have for Carsland with the popcorn and little tasty treats. That looks like fun.
The rest of DCA really has no appeal to me. So I think after we ride RSR we'll look around Carsland a little and then go back over to Disneyland itself and do the things we enjoy there. That would be more fun in my opinion.
I, however, can't wait to see New Fantasyland in WDW. That's a place that's going to be special to me for many years to come. Carsland is something I will probably experience once in my lifetime and not think too much about afterwards because I am not emotionally connected to the Cars brand. But I do love the Disney stories behind New Fantasyland and they are a special part of my family's memories.
Perhaps a younger generation loves the Carsland brand more though. Every family is different. That's what's really so magical about Disney. There is something for everyone!
