Let's start at the beginning, shall we?
Last Sunday night (10/01) shortly after getting off work, I was packing my rental car, getting ready to embark on a long, overnight drive. While loading my last bag, I hear a metallic "clang" noise. I look over, and shortly down the hill, across from my apartment at the neighboring motel's garbage dumpster, I see a black bear standing on it's hind legs peeking down into the dumpster.
Luckily for me, I have my fully charged camera right there in my car, so I think, why not get a short video of a bear dumpster diving? Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong! Less than a second or two after starting to record...a car comes driving up a street behind my apartment building, and either the engine noise or the approaching headlights spook the bear, causing it to suddenly run away from the dumpster....up toward my general direction!

It doesn't run directly at me, but up the hill to my area, and adjacent to where I'm standing. It all happened so fast, as you will see in the 15-second video below.
You know it's going to be an interesting trip when you have your first wildlife encounter before even leaving your own driveway.
