Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Well, this doesn’t feel right.
Holly has always been a very delicate eater with a petite appetite. We’ve always just left her kibble bowl full and let her graze.

About a year and a half ago, we switched her to puppy food for the extra calories, and added a serving of canned puppy food for supper.

She gave up the kibble completely in the late spring, and I switched her to soft chunks of “raw food”. She stopped eating that a couple of days ago, even though she loved it. And now for the last couple of days she won’t eat her canned food unless I finger feed it to her. Today, not even then.

I’ve explained to her that while her “time” is certainly coming, this is not it. I already had to put a dog down on Thanksgiving weekend (six years ago). I don’t want to do it again. She just ignores me and keeps sleeping. *sigh*

All dogs are different. Sometimes, if you have a little clear chicken broth with some plain white rice, that appeals to some of them. Also, oddly enough, even a little vanilla ice cream is another option. Just like people--if they're not feeling well, keeping the food to an absolute minimum, and bland and simple, might help. I hope Holly can pull through this. And huggies to you.

Why am I up at 1:30? My daughter wanted her cousin and her friend, who is my own personal Kimmie Gibbler, to sleep over. So the girls decided they were going to oull an all nighter. Awesome. I passed out around 11 and they woke me up around 11:30. I passed out again around 12 and they woke me up AGAIN around 12:30. Someone screaming on the TV woke me up at 1:00. At 1:15 Gibbler’s mom texts me that she’s upset about something and asks if I’m awake. I said I was and Gibbler comes and knocks on my door. She’s hysterical and she doesn’t know why. I told her I’d drive her home. The other girls were asleep so I left them a note and drove Gibbler home. Why one of her 2 parents couldn’t come get her is beyond me but the way I saw it, my only hope of getting any sleep was getting this kid out of my house. So I drive her home, come back and get back into bed. The dogs start whining that they want to go out. So I take the dogs out to shut them up and the dopey little one drops his bone on my foot. I hobble back upstairs and get back in bed. Then I hear footsteps on the stairs. It’s my niece wondering where Gibbler went. So she goes in my daughter’s bed to sleep, I try to wake my daughter to get her into bed too but she’s out cold. So now I’m back in bed but I’m wide awake. No sleep for me.

Welcome to the wonderful world of pre-teen and teen girl sleepovers. We never had one that ended well with DD - always someone crying, or wanting to go home. Got to love those hormone years! Boys are different, but at that age anyway, much easier.

She gets a weird anxiety thing when she’s away from home. Her parents have said “no more sleeping out - but you can have friends here” so I’m sure that’s why they wouldn’t come get her.

My cousin and her husband took Mike and I out for dinner last night. They are moving this week, and will be a solid 3+ hours away - the furthest since she was a teenager out on the mission field in the 80’s.
Huntsville is a lot closer than Tanzania, but still ... :(

Mike has been to Speekezzie’s before, but I had not. He knows the chef from back in high school. I don’t remember him.

Aw....I'm sorry. How old is she? I hope she has some time left in her at least beyond Thanksgiving, which is soon for you, isn't it? You do it in October, right?

Thanksgiving is this weekend. Your choice of yesterday, tomorrow, or today.

Holly will be 15 in a couple of weeks. It’s not so much that she’s “sick”, as she’s just approaching the natural end of her time with us.

So sorry!! How old are they? I'm very lucky that my DD (11) and her best friend are very quiet and well behaved. They are 2 peas in a pod and both very much DJs rather than Gibblers. She does have a Gibbler-ish friend, but even she's MUCH better since she got on meds for her ADHD. But neither my DD or her best friend are wild or hyper and they don't particularly like a lot of noise. I don't mind her spending the night at all...they watch some Netflix and eat junkfood and fall asleep. I'm so sorry you have a Kimmie Gibbler!!

It’s funny - as annoying as she is - she’s really a sweet girl with a kind heart and I do have a soft spot for her. She’s just loud and thinks she’s one of my kids. :hilarious: They’re 13 and quite honestly I’d rather deal with the noise and have them here where I can keep an eye on them and know what they’re up to.

Yup, as much as I don’t like kids, I always preferred everyone to be here. I used to stock up on pop and junk food to ensure just that.

Parents knew that when their kids came home, they’d be hopped up on sugar and soda ... and nothing else!
