From my house in Vermont it was just a little over 1500. From Raleigh it's really close to 600 miles, give or take.

Here's our updated state map. We hadn't gotten any in hours, then within 30 seconds of each other saw Arizona and New Mexico. Still not provinces. Sorry @JenniferS.

I'm surprised by how few plates we've seen. We normally see quite a bit more.

We just spent 15 minutes circling around the airport (because Mike refuses to pay the 25 cent toll) and didn’t see a single plane landing, taking off, or anywhere in the airspace.

We both noticed and simultaneously commented how weird it was. Our standard joke is - Oh look another plane, I wonder if we’re near an airport. Today - nada.

Driving by Atlanta, we drive right under runways. Only saw two planes coming in. Normally it's 10-20.

Got here around 5:30. Checked in, luggage to room, shared a chicken strip meal. And now we are waiting out our first Florida rainstorm of the trip. Then we are going to go park at MK and head to the Contemporary to watch Enchanment for the first time.

Initial thoughts of All-Star Sports... glad we're only here one night.

It obviously needs major attention and refurbs. But it was cheaper than other hotels for pretty much just sleeping tonight.
