If I can't pronounce it, I ain't celebrating it.

Hey - I can't pronounce sfogliatella but there's no stopping me if a plate of these are about!

My department has a coffee-pastries-fruit hour one Monday morning each month. Today they had Christmas cookies and Christmas cupcakes instead of pastries. Hardly any were eaten - too much sugar at that time of day for most people I suppose. I'm bringing home a dozen or so of the cookies. You can't tell from this photo but they're pretty big.

We went back to Newport this afternoon to see the last of the 3 mansions (The Elms) that are decorated for Christmas. It was very foggy which lent an air of mystery to it all.

Photography indoors was limited to just this one room, but it was pretty spectacular.

The delivery entrance:

I suspect that a certain Duke's ancestors lived here - look closely and you'll see why:

interesting details there:

So completes our mansion tours for this year. We have a membership so we'll go back in the spring when the gardens are in bloom.

Was it really foggy as you say, or did you use Photoshop fog?
