For those who are more in tune with Disney restaurants, if you could only choose one of these, which would you choose?
San Angel Inn (never been)
Via Napoli (we've eaten here before, but we unknowingly all had covid and think it may have affected our enjoyment)
Liberty Tree Tavern (never been)
These are three restaurants that we've thrown around for June, for just my dad and I. Just wondering what your opinions are.
I like all three, but it really depends on your tastes. If it's just my daughter and I going, Liberty Tree Tavern. We love the traditional thanksgiving meal foods there, but my son won't eat any of it and my husband has been conveniently sick every time we've had a reservation there, so he has yet to eat there. We've always had great service, the food has always been great (though the first time we went there, the mac and cheese was horrible....super bland and pasty, but there was plenty of other stuff to eat.), and it's really cool theming. We have always gone for lunch, because they have an a la carte menu for lunch, but at dinner you can only get the Thanksgiving type meal. My son, had he ever gone with us, would have been able to order fries at lunch, but not at dinner, so we've always reserved for lunch. Also, I feel like eating that big meal at lunch has advantages, like getting you out of the hot son in the middle of the day, and also gives you the rest of the day to walk off all the food. But that would be true of any restaurant, I guess.
We have eaten at Via Napoli every trip. I love it, but I know that a lot of people swear it's not good if you come from somewhere known for pizza. I have no such prejudices, so we go every time. But if you are with pizza snobs, I'd avoid it. I have never eaten anything but the pizza here, but I'm kind of tempted next time to make 2 reservations there so I can try something else. I do love their pizza....we can't get good pizza here, and while the pizza snobs say Via Napoli isn't good, I think if they had ever tried pizza that we get HERE, they would feel differently. So I don't want to give up a chance to get good pizza, but at the same time, there are some other things I'd like to try, and there's no way I could eat both. So I guess the question is, how much do you like Italian food/pizza, and is anyone in your group likely to be judgy about it?
San Angel, I love the ambience there, and when we went 2 years ago, it was delicious. The tables do tend to be very close together...we ended up kind of making friends with the people at the table next to us, because we were so close to each other, you couldn't avoid hearing everything they ordered and talked about. But I would definitely check the menu first and make sure there's something you will eat. I only booked there on the trip that my daughter and I took just the two of us. I've wanted to eat there for years, but my son wouldn't eat there, and up until a few years ago, my daughter wouldn't have either. But she's matured in her tastes, so we checked it out. It was very different from most of the Mexican restaurants I've eaten at in the US, but what we got was good, and our server was good. It was PACKED though, because it happened to be POURING buckets of rain that day....like, you would be soaked walking just a few steps outside. We were lucky we had an ADR, because everyone was trying to take cover in the pavilions and there were people lined up trying to get into the restaurants and were really angry that they didn't have any tables available. It wasn't just the restaurant that was packed, it was the whole Mexico Pavilion, so it was really noisy, and we were seated closely enough to the check-in stand that we heard several people getting upset that the restaurant was completely full and they weren't let in. I feel like a different restaurant that's not so open in the middle of a pavilion maybe wouldn't have been quite so noisy. So that's something to consider. Not that you can control the weather, but if noise is a thing for you, it is not the quietest environment.
