Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Seems like many of us here have been through the same up and down life experiences in recent years.
But yes, God and his love are always present.

On a lighter note, when I first saw the pic of y’all’s bed without reading that far, I thought “Wow, that is one ‘lowrider’ bed…!!!”…!!!!! :hilarious:
We bought this bed when we moved to the apartment. It’s waaaaay lower than the bed at home, but I still need a step stool to get into it.

Keep in mind, at 163 cm, I’m slightly above average height for a woman my age. These super thick mattresses make it hard for us short-legged people to get into the bed.

PUSH's Walt Disney World Vacation - March 2025: Travel Day

So this trip was very spontaneous, having been planned two weeks prior to leaving. It was just my parents and me. We flew direct to Orlando out of Madison. My mom is pretty picky with flights, so we got the Ascent seats on Breeze Airlines. The Ascent seats are essentially premium economy/their version of first class (though they aren't what you picture when you think first class). But overall, they were nice seats.

This is a picture flying over Madison.

We got complimentary drinks and snacks included, so I started with the margarita and Gardettos. I haven't had Gardetto's in a long time, and I forgot how good they are. The rye chips are my favorite. A little while later the flight attendant came back around to ask if we wanted anything else, so I got a vodka cranberry. I figured, if it's included, might as well get my money's worth.

It started to get dark, so we were able to see the sunset. It's also fun to see all the city lights down below. As we were approaching MCO, we got to see Happily Ever After from the plane. I also was able to spot Epcot, and the torches were lit for Luminous.

Once we landed, we took Mears Connect to Riverside. I wouldn't do that again... we had to wait a little while for other guests to arrive. Then once everyone was there, we had to drive to another terminal to pick a single passenger up, who I believe missed his bus or went to the wrong pickup. It seemed like we weren't supposed to get him originally. Then, we stopped at three other resorts before going to Riverside. It didn't help that we were also rushing to get to the resort before 11, so we could get something to eat before they closed. Otherwise we'd be starving by morning.

We got to our resort around 10:45pm and made it in time. I ended up just getting chicken strips and splitting it with my mom. They were very good, as Disney chicken strips usually are.

Then we checked in and had some issues with the room. We got put in a second floor room in the Alligator Bayou section, but had requested a different building with an elevator because my mom has knee problems and would be having an ECV with her. The CM said there was no other option, as they were fully booked. I know she probably couldn't do anything, but she didn't seem to have any empathy. Didn't apologize once. When we asked what to do with the ECV, she just shrugged and pretty much wasn't going to help us figure it out. I had to do the problem solving and ask if we could leave it at bell services until the next morning, and then see if we could get a room with an elevator the next day. And that ended up being what happened. But the CM was not helpful at all. It's the first time in all of our years going to POR that we didn't have good service at check in. However, ultimately it all worked out, but it was an inconvenience the next morning, as we had to get up earlier than we wanted to in order to pick it up/drop off all our bags before going to a park.

But finally, we got to our room and pretty much went right to sleep.

Up next... Day 1!

PUSH's Walt Disney World Vacation - March 2025: Day 1, Part 1

Like I said, we ended up waking up earlier than we wanted to in order to figure out the mishap from the night before. After all that was sorted out, we went to the bus stop to head to our first park... Animal Kingdom! I believe this is the first time we have done AK as our first park of the trip. It was also very cold this morning. It was in the low 50s and breezy. A total change from what we're used to in June. Even when we used to go down in March several years ago, I don't think we've ever had it that chilly before.

20250323_072202.jpg

My dad and I went to rope drop Na'vi River Journey first. My mom doesn't care for the ride, so she headed back to meet us at our next ride, Kilimanjaro Safaris. My dad and I walked right on Na'vi. This ride was always underwhelming for me, but I've grown to enjoy it for what it is. It's a mid-tier attraction, nothing more, nothing less.

20250323_072841.jpg

After Na'vi, we took the path back to the Safari. Once we got back there, we learned that the ride didn't open until 8:15, even though the park opening was 8:00 for normal guests and 7:30 for resort guests. So we had to wait a little while, but once we got on, the animals were pretty active. The only animal we didn't really see were the giraffes, which are my mom's favorites. We saw a tiny glimpse of one through the trees, but the rest must not have been out. In total, I think we saw 22 different species of animals.

After the Safari, my dad and I hiked over to Everest. When we started the walk, it was a 15 minute wait. By the time we got over, it was up to 35. The spring break crowds were in full effect. We decided to do single rider. I always love Everest. I feel like it's a forgotten ride, but it's one of the best.

20250323_090418.jpg

After Everest, we walked over to Dinosaur. It was a little weird with Chester and Hester going, but I'm also happy we're getting the Tropical Americas. Although, I think the dinosaur theme is great, but it was done totally wrong. Dinosaur is a good ride when the effects are working properly. Unfortunately, they never kept up with the proper maintenance. But I'll be sad that they couldn't keep some type of dinosaur theme in the park... seems like an easy theme to bring people to the parks. Again, if done right.

Anywho... after Dinosaur, we were hungry. However, Animal Kingdom is awful in terms of quick service breakfast options. So we started walking to see what we could find, but didn't find much. We ended up just heading back to Pandora for our Flight of Passage lightning lane (yes, we splurged to save time on our short trip). This is always a fun ride. I wish I could experience it for the first time again. Also, Pandora is just a beautiful land to walk around.

After Flight of Passage, we were getting really hungry, and at that time the quick services were starting to open for lunch. We went to the closest one to us, which was Pizzafari. Big thumbs down. 👎 I know, this has never been a good restaurant. But it was worse than I had expected. I got the chicken parmesan. It tasted like a Lean Cuisine microwaved meal. Even the chicken was bad. I won't be going here again.

After our "brunch", we did some shopping at the main stores. This is where I first saw the button-down shirt I really liked. It started my hunt in every store I went to for the next 24 hours.

On our way out of the shops, we saw Kevin. We then took the little hidden bridge on your way out, which we had never seen before. It's crazy that after 23 years of going to the parks, and we still find things we didn't know existed.

On the bus ride back to the resort, we kept checking to see if our new room was none. No luck. At least right until we got to the bus stop. Then it showed the room number. I was able to use my phone to scan the Magic Bands to give us access to the room. I never knew you could do that, as a CM normally does it for us.

So we got our luggage from bell services and got our room. It was a river view room (which is was we originally booked, because it was all that way available). Right next to the bridge to Ol' Man Island (where the main pool is, and it leads to the main building). The room was nice, as usual, but they are starting full refurbs of the rooms next month. I'm interested to see what they will look like.

We got unpacked and sat for a little bit.

Up next... Day 1, Part 2, where we visit Epcot!

And, this one’s not totally accurate, as back in the day (I’m talkin’ 40 or so years ago), we did plenty of working during drinking hours to meet deadlines…while drinking…!!!!! :cautious::cool::hilarious:
