Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Okay, my turn to whine. šŸ˜‚

The INSIDE of my windshield this morning. I tried to scrape it, but other than showering my black slacks with bits of snow, it did nothing. Had to sit and just wait for the defroster (in a 6-cylinder beast of a car!) finally do the job.

Almost 2 pm, and it ā€œfeels likeā€ minus 8Ā°F.

Iā€™m still wearing flip flops at work though! Take that Mr. Polar Vortex!

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.

Current temp -3Ā°F with a feels-like temp of -15Ā°.
I had (past tense!) the window wide open, but then decided to shut it half way. With no Mike or Daisy to warm my bed, it seemed prudent.

I still have two fans going though - partly for the white noise, but mostly because I have slept with a fan for more than five decades. Even longer than Iā€™ve slept with Mod.

I sleep with a fan on as much as possibleā€¦but itā€™s a ceiling fan that doesnā€™t make any noise. Carolyn has a white noise app on her phone to sleep by. She doesnā€™t want the ceiling fan on when itā€™s as cold as itā€™s been lately. As a result, I usually sleep on top of the covers, because she has the heat up so highā€¦!!!!! :hilarious:

Itā€™s a legit gripe. Quit moving stuff.

Back when I worked at our local mall Disney Store (Aug. 16th, 2009-Oct. 17th, 2013), we had ā€œstage setsā€ after 6p close every other Sunday night. I was a Lead Manager for many of these for the last 1+ year I worked there.
Many times it had to do with new product, but more times than not, we were just moving things around and re-pricing. Why, I have no clue, but my theory was these corporate people were just coming up with things to keep themselves employed. Yes, I get product placement, but it usually made no sense to me to move things one fixture over, further over on a fixture, etc. :cyclops:
Most CMs called out on those nights, but those of us that actually had work ethic took it on. As a result, there were many of those nights that I didnā€™t get home ā€˜til well after midnight.
Just leave things where the Guests are used to them being, maybeā€¦?!?!?! šŸ¤”šŸ¤Ŗ:hilarious:

Shoprite and Wegmans are pretty good about not moving things around but Walmart it's always like trying to find Waldo. Aldi is somewhere in between and usually an upgrade
Sometimes, our Targets (3 near me) move around stuff. It's infuriating. One of the stores is particularly large, and I don't appreciate walking around in disjointed patterns, just to locate a spatula . . . :cautious:

It was frustrating for us CMs too, because we would just get used to where things were, and then theyā€™d switch it up. Just enough to throw things off a bit.
It wasnā€™t the end of the world, but so much of it made no sense to us. But, the powers that be always had their little charts and stage set reference pics.
The only thing that ever really stayed static was Plush Mountain, so that was goodā€¦!!!!! :hilarious:

The Target close to me move things around to make it look like they are still in business. You go in once and whole sections of shelving will only have two or three things on it. Next time that shelving is full and another one is sporting just a few items. I can't figure out if they can only order stuff for one department at a time or what. I managed a retail store years ago that was closing because the owner had passed away. I know what a going out of business store looks like and when I walk into the local Target, that is the first vibe I get. About 40,000 square feet of sporadic nothing. Which is why I seldom go there myself.

^^^This. And I know you CAN, but how to GET such a job. I beta read for a friend and she keeps telling me I should do it as a job, for other people so I can make money, but I'm just not sure anyone else would value my opinion enough for that. Like....what qualifications do I have other than that I like to read? Where does one go to apply to be a beta reader?

When they still had Disney stores, I never bought anything but I totally missed plush mountain.

Yep, the old ā€œPink & Greenā€ Disney stores, like the one I worked at, all had prominently featured, very large Plush Mountains.
The picture I posted was taken off the internet, but it could very well be from our old store, as the decoration around the video screen is the exact same, as well as the Honest John (Foulfellow) and Gideon (from Pinocchio) big figs above the 7ā€™ line, in the far upper left.
Those stores were all very similar, but none were identical, IIRCā€¦? šŸ¤”
Anyway, Plush Mountain always looked awesome when it was well-stocked and organized, not so much when the store was packed and it had been thoroughly rifled through.
Too often, Guests (mostly the young) also wanted to get in it for a pic, and even dive into it. The stepped ledges had padding around them, but if you hit one just right there could be some serious damage. Fortunately, I donā€™t remember any bloody noses, knocked out teeth, etc., but the ā€œdivingā€ happened more than once.
Also, youā€™d run across the occasional slobbered on plush, when you were straightening it or rebuilding it at the end of the night.
When I was not in management (and even sometimes when I was), I restocked and rebuilt Plush Mountain many, many times.
I was one of only 4 CMs that could rebuild Plush Mountain to specs., in a decent amount of time.
Yaā€™ also had to get a bit creative a lot of times, when some plush didnā€™t show up in shipment.
So many CMs didnā€™t wannaā€™ touch it, but I took pride in making it look as good as possible.
Good timesā€¦!!! :geek:;):)
