Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Mr Ferret 75

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.
My childhood as well, but I don't remember you as one of the kids on our street. 🤔
You forgot me.

OK, so I ran across this bit from an old CMT talk show that was hosted by Ralph Emery back in the day. It’s 2 silly bird jokes told by a guy named Sammy. He was 1/2 of the country music comedy duo “The Geezinslaw Brothers” from here in Austin. The other half of the duo was a guy named Son, and he never talked, similar to Penn and Teller before there was a Penn and Teller.
Sammy was also a local morning country radio talk show host here in Austin for many years.
Not sure if any of y’all will find it funny, but it still cracks me up to this day…!!!!! :hilarious:

I meant to comment on this, earlier. It was hysterical -- not just the writing, but Sammy had the "timing" down perfectly. It's not easy being an effective comedian, especially on a longer skit like this one -- but, he had me in stitches! :hilarious:

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Current temp -3°F with a feels-like temp of -15°.
I had (past tense!) the window wide open, but then decided to shut it half way. With no Mike or Daisy to warm my bed, it seemed prudent.

I still have two fans going though - partly for the white noise, but mostly because I have slept with a fan for more than five decades. Even longer than I’ve slept with Mod.

“In 1983, a fan named M. Varon sent a letter to Steve Jobs requesting his autograph. The Apple co-founder's response was unexpected and humorous. Jobs replied with a typed letter, politely declining to give an autograph while inadvertently providing one through his signature.”

Inadvertent, my foot. I’m pretty sure Steve Jobs knew exactly what he was doing and was having a good laugh.

Yep, Sammy Allred was quite the character (he passed in 2018 at age 84).
The Geezinslaw Brothers released a song in 1992 called “Help, I’m White and I Can’t Get Down”. A combination of country and rap that they called “crap”…!!!!! :hilarious:
They also released a version of “Over the Rainbow” that I’ve always loved.
He was an established mandolin player. He said he chose to master the mandolin because everyone else was playing guitar, and he wanted to try something different.
He was also often quite controversial on the radio.
He was suspended several times, and eventually fired in 2007. He could certainly be a crotchety old dude, but I liked him because he didn’t hold back, and told ya’ how he really felt about things.
Anyway, videos of the aforementioned songs below…!!! :)
