@JenniferS , it was a bit (OK, a lot, actually) difficult to leave our home of 33+ years, at the end of last year, as well. We raised our kiddos there, and saw them through elementary school, middle school, high school, etc.
We all had a good cry (yes, I am actually human…!!!!
) the night we finally left her.
But, in the end, we are much happier here, where we are within walking distance of our granddaughters, with a park, pool, playground, etc., between us.
Sometimes a bit of shakeup is OK…!!!

That sounds like it may be pushing the boundaries of legality if it happened today.Same to you and yours Jennifer, in regard to the new year…!!!
As far as the rest…WOW.
The only thing I can add, is that when myself and a buddy rented a house from a guy back in the day, he added an extra $50/month to our rent…because we were guys. He said guys are just tougher on things, and women aren’t. We heard him out. He said, even without partying, guys are just stronger, and things break easier, so he had to compensate for that…!!!!!
He actually made sense, and we understood, so we paid the extra rent (even though $50/month was a lot back in 1986)…!!!!!

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Totally illegal here. You can’t even charge a security deposit here, or a pet deposit.
Not only that, it is illegal to prohibit pets. You can say you don’t have a pet, have never had a pet, will never ever ever get a pet … and then move in with a pet, and the landlord cannot kick you out.
