The United States flags shoud be flown at half-staff effective immediately until sunset on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in honor of the life and legacy of President Jimmy Carter, who passed away this afternoon in Plains, Georgia.
I saw two people post sad emojis. FYI: I am NOT sad. Over the break I had a cruise....then I had 3 days beyond that to rest up. I feel blessed.
I am posting from my band room and I'm feeling very happy to see me students again.
Have a great day!
Steve

That reminds me of parking in The Bronx in The Winter.Mike’s parking spot when we got back up here. UNACCEPTABLE! We pay for parking!

I texted the Building Super to let him know that we parked in a quasi non parking spot until they get it cleared out.

Ugh . . . parking wars. I've lived in multiple locations, and the few times I lived in any of the big cities, I never had a car because of the parking situation, which was brutal. I lived off public transit and taxis. And I walked, a lot . . .Mike’s parking spot when we got back up here. UNACCEPTABLE! We pay for parking!

When DH and I first got married, we lived just inside city limits in an apartment complex with 4 apartments in it. There was a small parking lot off to the side where each apartment had one parking space, and then there was street parking in front. Across the street from the apartments, there were a couple of run down houses....it wasn't the nicest neighborhood, but it was Wyoming, so there wasn't really a dangerous neighborhood. Anyway, the neighbors across the street got really mad at people who parked on the street, even though it was a public street where you didn't need a permit to park. They were always leaving nasty notes and telling us they were going to have us towed, which they couldn't do because we were allowed to park there. They kept calling the city and the city kept telling them they didn't own the street. We had 2 cars, and could only park one in the lot, so we HAD to park on the street, and we never parked on their side. They were just weird people. That reminds me of parking in The Bronx in The Winter.
It was ruthless. You'd only leave your shoveled-out spot if it was a matter of life or death, because as soon as you pulled away, someone would take it and squat there until the weekend. That's assuming of course that the snowplow hadn't buried your car.
Where we used to live in The Bronx, there was only street parking. We've never had reserved parking. Even here in the suburbs. Anyone can park in front of our house (if they want to deal.with my hubby cursing them.from behind the curtains) but at least we have a two-car driveway (and garage)
I hope you left a to do list for the boysApparently home (Lindsay) got hit with 19+ cm of snow overnight and into this morning, with another 9.6 cm tonight. That’s just under a foot.
I think we’ll wait a bit before heading back up, although we HAVE to go tonight because we both work in the morning.
There is still so much to do here anyway.
Ugh. Some rental building mgmt. peeps are awful. Been there with do-nothing folks like that . . . more than once, over the years. As for the plow driver, he's a piece of work, and glad that karma bit him. Sorry to hear he yelled at you. Good for you for standing your ground, but a word of caution as well -- (hot-headed types of guys, regardless of their profession) don't always play fair, and can be dangerous. I know you're aware of this, but just some friendly concern, from me to you.As I was leaving for work this morning, the snow plow operator was in the lot. We exchanged good mornings, but when he saw what car I got into, he came over and got confrontational. Told me I was being relocated from my spot because that’s where he traditionally dumps the snow, and then told me what my new spot was going to be. (FYI - I already rejected that other spot, which is how I got this one!)
I don’t know this guy from Adam, so I said I’d speak to the Superintendent. He said I could speak to whomever I wanted, but if I’m in this spot when he comes back, he’s going to bury my car.
I told him I pay for this spot, in addition to the other spot that he’d already completely plowed in. He got really aggressive. I asked him nicely (the first time) to not yell at me. The second time, not so nicely. Dude, you don’t scare me.
When I got home, I was prepared to play nice and move into the new spot beside Mike’s spot, only to find that those two spots were still completely plowed in, and mine was clear.
I parked in my old spot, and called the Super as soon as I got in. Bahaha, nothing got plowed because Dude’s bucket broke, and the new part won’t be in until Monday. Can you say, Karma?!?
He’s out of commission for what will be two of the busiest days of the winter … all because he hollered at a middle aged woman for no reason.
I’ve escalated this to building management because I’m sick of them playing games. It’s a new owner, and they’re so far behind on capital improvements that some areas are bordering on dangerous.
Like these back steps for instance.
