Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

A fell off his bike before he even got out of the alley behind our house. It's so slick. There were a bunch of accidents on one of the highways and responders had a hard time even getting to people who needed help because it's so slippery. One person died just a few miles from here when two cars crashed when one slid on the ice. So I called A in from school. E said she couldn't afford to miss, so she left early to allow herself more time to get there in case she needs to get off the bike and walk.

Good heavens, is school that important that a shutdown for one day can't happen in a severe weather situation. Has the whole world lost their freaking minds. Ice storms are one thing that no one should ever challenge, it will win.

They don't usually close school here. THere was once when A was about 11 that they closed school early because they were expecting a snow storm, but that was ONLY because his school is a special education school, in which the majority of students come from other towns and are brought by bus. The bus drivers refused to drive once the snow started, so they had to take 95% of the students home before the storm hit anyway, so they just closed the school early. But that's the only time that's happened. When E was in 3rd grade, and A in 2nd, there was a heatwave here and the schools don't have AC. Almost every school in the Netherlands either canceled school for a couple of days, or they adjusted the schedule and started early so they could let the kids go home at lunch before it got too hot. Our school is the only one I know of that didn't do anything. E's teacher had a thermometer in their classroom and it was 110 degrees. We don't usually get extreme temperatures, so they just don't know what to do when we do.

It’s snowing like crazy here too, but the temps are going up overnight, so it will turn to heavy rain, and wash it all away.

Mike and I ran out to get groceries before it started. By the time we got back to the car, it was really coming down. Just carrying the plastic grocery totes into the house, a couple of cardboard boxes disintegrated from the wet snow.

We also are experiencing snow thunder and lightning. It doesn’t happen very often, so that’s kind of neat.

Speaking of thundersnow, everyone's favorite crazy weatherman is here for it. This was yesterday. Meanwhile, another 2 inches of rain here right now.

Yup, ole Jim has been spending way to much of his time in bad weather. He's gone a little odd, as my grandmother used to say. ;) I wonder, when Jim passes on, will that end all this bad weather or will we just stop hearing about it?

Well our big snow storm fizzled for us. I think we got maybe 2 inches at most. I can still see blades of grass peeking through the snow in some parts of the yard. That's all okay with me, but now we are going into a deep freeze with below zero temps and wind chills. On the bright side the Arctic temperatures usually make the sky clear so it should be sunny, it has been gray and cloudy for days. I'm looking forward to seeing some sunshine.

With all the snow we got on Tuesday, I can't tell how much we got yesterday. It looks like it's done snowing, though.

I got my 2023 Google Maps review yesterday. It says I traveled a total of 22,030 miles, which equals 88% around the world. I drove 19,220 miles (785 hours).

The farthest north I went was Green Bay, WI. The farthest south was Disney World. The farthest west was Las Vegas. The farthest east was also Disney World.
