Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Really? Other stores do the same? It is smart because people are lazy and leave carts everywhere. But I never carry money.
In Central FL when I shopped at Aldi on vacation , the local homeless do a good deed and earn some money per hour. When the families unload their shopping cart items into their vehicle the homeless approach the family asking to return the cart to the front of the store and they pocket the 25 cents.

It is standard over here so you can often find key chains that have a removable token. And I recently learned that the token for the coffee machine at work is the same size when I arrived at the grocery store and realized I had removed all my change 🤦🏼‍♀️

Aldi is a must do even if just once to look at the aisle of shame:angelic:
Will take your word for that. I'm just at the point of stores making high profits, while dumping on customers to do their own check-out, bagging, etc., and not lowering prices. Throwing in a quarter for the use of a cart, and returning cart for the quarter, is just another annoying inconvenience that does not benefit the customer -- it benefits the store. Pass.

It's to encourage people to return the trolley. it might only be a quarter but you would be surprised how many disappear.

Aldi while not having a large selection generally has the lowest prices for what they do have;) The one by me has a small but excellent produce section with a selection of reasonably priced organic produce as well, they also have a nice dark roast coffee for about half the price of most supermarkets:joyfull: They also have real cashiers! We have to bring our own bags (we did before the change here) and prefer to bag our own groceries so it's easier to put things away. I'm the weirdo who sorts items by where they go

It benefits Aldi by the store not needing to pay someone $15 per hour or whatever the rate to run out and return carts to the front of the store. Labor costs are what store owners are looking at and not needing to have more staff on the payroll is a big savings for the store. Also less staff on site less chances of someone getting injured and the store has to pay workers comp .

Nope. But don't take my 25 + years retail experience into account.

Does anyone remember when the baggers at the grocery stores would actually bring all the groceries to the car and load them in the car for you? Or some of our grocery stores had a system where the baggers would put all the bags in a big tub, give you a number, then put the tub on a rolling belt to an area that lead outside . Then you’d go to your car and drive to the tub area outside and a store employee would load up your car. That used to be the norm when I was a kid. That was a nice service.

Some of the larger supermarkets bring groceries to cars a bit closer to the city

We have one in town that will still do that. They ask if you want your groceries loaded for you, then you pull your car under an overhang, then they load it for you. I usually only shop there for meat and occasionally a couple other things because their groceries are more expensive. I typically do Walmart for groceries. During the school year I do curbside pickups because weekends are super busy, and it saves lots of time. During the summer I'll go in, just to get out and about.
