They haven't made a good show since HEA. Enchantment was okay, but clearly worse than HEA. Epcot Forever has been the best show they've made since, and it was created as an interim. For me, HEA is still king.
They’re your go-to. Ha.Yep.
Like I said, I have to hold judgement until I see it in person. I haven't seen everything behind SSE yet, but I do think I miss the fountain.Okay I just watched ResortTV1 - not live obviously. I liked it. It’s no HEA, but nothing is.
I’m quite sure watching it on an iPhone screen with the host’s audio not being the greatest doesn’t pay it justice. I’ll bet it’s awesome IRL. Nothing on a screen can truly replicate being there … the smells, the thumping in your chest with each explosion, the energy of the crowd.
I think overall today was a big win for Epcot. Happy Birthday, Walt!
I definitely will miss the fountain!!I do think I miss the fountain.
I loved that fountain. To me, it embodied the spirit of Epcot.I definitely will miss the fountain!!
And then, like the castle, they wrecked it with a stage.I loved that fountain. To me, it embodied the spirit of Epcot.
be glad they didnt make a cake out of itAnd then, like the castle, they wrecked it with a stage.
I never saw it, but the pics do not appeal to me.be glad they didnt make a cake out of it
It was a little talky.Another thought on Luminous that I just heard another streamer mention. I had the same thought last night, but forgot to share here. I don't like how it stops to narrate the story. It brings me back to a phrase that's been thrown around the Survivor community for several seasons... "show, don't tell". Show us the story, show us the feelings and emotions. Don't tell it to us. Allow us to come upon the story on our own. It's so much more powerful.
Indeed, blocking off those beautiful mosaics inside the castle is disturbing.I never saw it, but the pics do not appeal to me.
That being said, the cake decoration was temporary; that stage is permanent. I remember when the castle was so accessible. I know lots of people who have been to MK many times and have not once seen the mosaics.
Blessing of size? Apparently not if you’ve got to junk up the entire front of the castle with a stage and restrict access 90% of the day.![]()
Seriously, I went to WDW three times the year of the 25th anniversary celebration and the castle cake. I just don't understand all the upset about it. WDW is a theme park, the castle is spectacular, I understand that but it isn't a real castle it is a plastic replica of one. The 25th anniversary was a big one and like any landmark point deserved something more spectacular.I never saw it, but the pics do not appeal to me.

Now let's address the Castle Cake. Maybe it's just me, but I was amazed at it's design, gobsmacked by not only the detail but what had to be the enormous cost to design, fabricate, build over the existing castle structure and just the massively fun of the whole idea. The very type of whimsical I expected from Disney. The detail, if taken the time to contemplate it was mindboggling. Know what they got for that effort? Bombarded with negative, unjustified criticism of that was meant to symbolize a celebration of creativity. Completely missed by so many people unable to get to understand that this bright, gaudy, symbol of celebration was a masterpiece in engineering and creativity. I guess that there is no hiding my complete enthusiasm for it's existence especially since it was only going to be around for a comparatively short time. I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to see it more than once up close. When all is said and done it was a plastic shell outlining a comparatively plain plastic castle.
In my opinion that was the start of the Disney attitude that there was no reason to ever do anything that spectacular again because if it wasn't what the public were used to seeing so it was bad. I called it the museum syndrome. I, along with others was also upset about the Big Ugly Hat not because of it's existence but instead where it was located and mostly because it stayed for what seemed like forever. There were so many places in DHS to put the hat that would have been a great addition to the park, Just not covering the view of the theater. I didn't even mind the Mickey hand and wand but I hated that they attached those magic star-dust things to the surface of SSE. I understood that at the time people didn't think of EPCOT as Disney and the wand told everyone it was without a doubt part of WDW.
I was against the lights attached to SSE, but have softened to that because at night it is a very nice touch. I was also assured that the lights themselves would not be visible in the daylight thus destroying the beauty of the structure. So I have come to think that was a good move.
