We had some more meetings today, followed by Open House from 4-6. All but one of my families came. All of the parents were extremely nice, and the kids all seemed really sweet. I know I'll have some iffy behaviors once the year starts, but it was good to meet those that I don't know, and catch up with those that I do know.

I won't go back in until Wednesday now to sort out supplies from Open House. Then I'm back in on Thursday for a couple meetings, and in between I'll prep for the first week of school.

Any specific reason why they are leaving Canada?
If you Google it, there are a myriad of speculated reasons beyond the stipulated “unique complexities”, but the consensus seems to be that Kleenex sales lag behind Scotties brand 16% vs 35% of market share), and that inflation and high prices are driving people to purchase even more lower priced off brands.

I know you have enjoyed visiting NYC in the past.
NYC is losing a lot of companies as well.

Did you know that the country of Turkey is no longer spelled "Turkey"? I was on the Ireland TripAdvisor forum and someone wanting to visit Ireland was identified as being from "Gumbet Turkiye". So I googled this and only today discovered the following...20230827_154558.jpg

Calling all women! (Men can comment too though)
I need to tweak this example of a "Save the Date" postcard....View attachment 739641
My daughter will be getting married in Lynchburg VA on 5/18/24
She grew up here, but her bridesmaids are her college friends and the groom is a Virginian.
The wedding party all have a connection to Virginia so it is most convenient / helpful to have the wedding there.
Yet we know that many of the friends and relatives our daughter grew up with here in NJ are not going to be able to travel down to Virginia and stay in a hotel for 2 nights.
So we have rented a Banquet Venue here in NJ for a wedding reception style event that we will call: "A Celebration of a New Couple". That will be a month after that actual wedding. This NJ Banquet event will be: 6/29/24

Ques. #1 : On the postcard should we use parentheses or no?
Here are two options:
*
SAVE THE DATES
*
or
*
SAVE THE DATE(S)
*
Ques. #2 : On the postcard could/should I shorten the June event by leaving out "A"?
*
"Celebration of a New Couple"
or
"A Celebration of a New Couple"
??? 🤔
It's only a postcard so dropping the "A" might make it format/fit better.
*
Your thoughts on questions 1 and 2 please? :)

No parentheses.

I would go with “the” vs “a” new couple, and something like …

“Join us to celebrate the new couple”, or just “Celebrate the new couple”.

“Celebration” doesn’t work for me, unless it’s “A Celebration for the new couple”; which is the weakest of the three phrasings IMO.

And finally … CONGRATULATIONS, you must be so proud!
