I’m sorry Air Canada and YYZ are not treating you well. That’s very inhospitable, and decidedly unCanadian.

My son flew seamlessly to the east coast on Swoop this morning. Swoop is WestJet’s nightmare discount division.
I've only used Air Canada once and that was a flight from Raleigh to Toronto and it was delayed almost four hours. I had a connection on Iceland Air in Toronto to Paris. Fortunately, there was already a five hour layover from Air Canada to Iceland Air. The flight to Paris was held up because the staff at Reykjavík Airport were on strike so everything was being handled (poorly) by management. Baggage transfer, Customs and everything else. So no harm no foul. We made the connection from there to Paris and arrived in Paris on time. Other than that Air Canada did get me to Toronto in time to connect, so they had that layover going for them, eh.

As a footnote, and I hope this isn't normal for Canada, the staff at Toronto International were curt and rude. I asked for directions to Icelandair and I got what sounded like an angry "Just go that way" pointing in a direction to my left. I don't know what was wrong with that lady, but she wasn't giving out any of those famous warm fuzzy's Canadians are famous for. I had the same problem years before taking a train from Toronto to Montreal. Completely unhelpful (the situation is way to extensive and tedious to express here but, I was angry for months after that trip).

I've learned through my travels , get the earliest flight departing ( 5am -7 am window, ) fly redeye , fly during off season, fly early in week avoid weekends , get most direct flights , non stop or minimal connections . It has worked so far for me and my family to get from point A to point B. Had friendly interactions with Canadians when we vacationed in Vancouver and Toronto , great foodie cities with diverse food from all over.

My thread on Denmark, Norway and my Holland America Cruise was/is very long.
So, this morning I created a "Best Stuff Only Photo Thread".
All my favorite photos are all viewable with one click.
This is much more convenient for those who just want to quickly scroll thru my European photos and then move on....

I spent about five and a half hours at school today. It doesn't look like it, but I got quite a bit done. I'll head back up tomorrow. My goal for tomorrow is to get things put away and make it look presentable. Then next week when I'm up there I can focus on printing, cutting, and laminating things. And I can also get ready for Open House.

Today I went and had breakfast at my brother's financee's bridal shower. All the guys left after breakfast.

Then my dad and I drove about an hour north to a state park and explored and did some hiking. It was right on the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers.

I've now been wrangled into doing something for school every day this week, even though it's my last week of summer break.

Monday: Training
Tuesday: Training
Wednesday: Classroom setup
Thursday: Helping with new teacher days as part of my leadership role (was told this was optional, but I don't have other plans)
Friday: Meeting

Sorry to hear this. It's my last week before I go back too, well I actually start again on the 22nd. I plan to relax, read, do some baking, and hit up a couple breweries I have been meaning to go to.

The trainings I'm getting paid for, and the meeting on Friday is part of something that I'll be paid for at the end of the school year. Technically the thing on Thursday is part of that, too, but it wasn't part of our original plans. So technically the only day I'm not getting paid for is Wednesday.

But honestly, I'd rather be busy than sit around and do nothing. I'm ready to go back. I saw my class list last Friday, and it gave me a little more energy to start the year.

Now ask me again when October rolls around, and I'll probably be needing a week's vacation. 😂
