I thought about going to the show, but Indy is gone, and I’m not sure I choose Barbie over the Jays.Happy birthday @JenniferS! I hope your day is/was filled with multiple viewings of the same movie, over and over again.
Waiting another 90 daysThe Jays won! And it’s Only Murders night. No movie theatre for me.
Thank you everyone for the good wishes. It was a pleasant enough, nothing day. Ten days from now I won’t remember it. (To be fair, I can only recall 6 of the previous 55 birthdays.)
We’re not birthday people (… or anniversary, Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve, Hallowe’en, Thanksgiving people). We go all in on Christmas!

Remember this when your kids have a particularly chatty, unproductive day. It happens.I went up to school to work again today. I got there around 9am. I was super productive the first hour. Then at 10ish, I went to ask the office a question. Then I ran into a couple teachers. Talked a while. Looked at each other's class lists. Then I talked to another teacher who got there. I worked a bit more. Then I talked some more. Then I decided to get lunch. Then on my way out I talked to another teacher. Then after lunch I got some things done. Then I talked some more.
By that time, it was 4pm. There was a movie showing at the high school at 6:30 about reading instruction. I wanted to see it, but didn't think I'd be there long enough to go. But by 4pm, I figured I might stay. So I texted a coworker and asked it she wanted to go to supper, since I knew she was going to the movie, too. She said to yes, so I socialized with other teacher until I met her at 5:15. Then we went to the movie.
So I got stuff done, but I definitely spent the majority of the time socializing. Which is okay!
I'll head up for supporting some new staff tomorrow morning. Then after lunch I'll have worktime in my classroom.
Now I finally know the secret to easily keep the house cleanI decided to tackle the downstairs hallway and closet. I got less than half done, but it was the icky half.
I asked everyone to chuck any shoes that leak, don’t fit, are painful, or gross. So far, Ski chucked two pairs of old work boots; Spenser, one pair of sandals; me, set three or four pairs of sneakers and dress shoes for donation; and Mike … Mike has 40+ pairs of shoes still to be assessed. (He kept his softball cleats, despite not having played in 15 years. You get the idea.)
I’ll get back at it tomorrow.
I’ve got the spirit to clean and chuck, but I’m lacking the energy. My cleaning lady bailed again this week, so I’ve got all the regular cleaning to do too.
Keeping the trailer spotless is so much easier. <300 sq ft, and more importantly … NO KIDS!
The problem is, that was every day last year!Remember this when your kids have a particularly chatty, unproductive day. It happens.
Im back to being up until all hours of the night again. Yesterday, 5:10.I've been in a bad habit lately. I go to bed when I'm feeling tired. Then when I get to bed, I lay wide awake for a long time.
Going back to a consistent routine when school starts up will probably help.
I also woke up at 5:15 this morning. I've been naturally waking up around 6:30 most of the summer. It's also partly because of back-to-school brain. My head is constantly running this time of year with everything I have to get done.Im back to being up until all hours of the night again. Yesterday, 5:10.
Tonight I’m aiming for earlier.
What? 3:16 is earlier!
My family always celebrated birthdays no matter the age. This coming Sunday we will be getting together to celebrate the 21st birthday of my second youngest granddaughter. You want to feel old, have three grandkids over 21 years old. Before the year is over there will be one at 21, one at 22 and one at 23. One more to go, but that is 9 years from now. By then I will either be 84 or dust. The Jays won! And it’s Only Murders night. No movie theatre for me.
