Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

I always put my carry on under the seat in front of me. But I’m only 5’4” so I don’t need the leg room. And I’m also fidgety so always needing to get something from or put something back in my bag.
Me, too. I have a squishy fabric bag that I can fit into any opening. (I used to use a hard cover, small carry on suitcase, but if there isn't any room above the seat, it's really uncomfortable to stick that under the seat in front of me -- too crowded.)

I went back up to school today to work in my room. I got there around 11 and left around 2:30. I did some chatting for a little while, but I started to get really burnt out after about 1.5 hours of working. I forced myself to stay a little while longer, though, since I had made the trip up there.

I did a lot of the easy jobs today, like wiping down shelves and putting the book bins back on the bookshelf. I just didn't want to tackle anything harder.

I'm not sure why, but I just don't have the motivation this year like I've always had before. I'm honestly ready to go back, but I'm just not feeling inspired to set up my room. 🤷

Maybe it's a just a random phase. I think that once school starts, and you meet all the children, your motivation will return!

I went to my room today too. I had to unpack everything and do set up. I went in at 7-11 and 1-3:30. I still have to position my tables and hang up some posters. My body really aches now from unpacking and moving everything.

My room may be mostly ready but I am not ready.

Oh and another teacher dropped off a Disney find in my classroom. A Walt Disney World promo poster from a department store display. The poster is from 1987.

I may have asked already, but when do you start back for inservice? We have inservice from August 22-24th, but then students don't come until September 5th.

We go back for insesrvice 22-25 (25th is a half day). Then the kids come for transition days/summer school on the 28-29 and officially we start on the 30th. We are done on May 31st, yep already looking forward to next summer!

The week before staff goes back, I also have two days of Adaptive Schools trainings. It's a continuation of the two days I did before I left for Disney in June.

Then I have a guiding coalition meeting that Friday for a couple hours. The good news is I'm getting paid for all of those.

So this is my last real chance to get my room ready without being stressed to finish before Open House. I'm sure we'll get a little time during our inservice days, but it's never more than a couple hours at most. And even though they say it's classroom work time, you're constantly interrupted for other meetings with specialists, or the spec ed teacher comes in and wants to go over their caseload, etc. So I can never figure that's usable time to set up my room.

Between blankets, bath towels, beach towels, and 2-3 weeks worth of trailer laundry, there was just too much to conceivably get done in 6 hours at home today, so I went to the laundromat. 5 loads of laundry done in 80’ish minutes … which is why I had plenty of time to go to the show while Mike completed his home chores.

Doesn’t look like the boys have done much laundry all summer, so I told them if they have everything in hampers waiting for me at the door, I will take it all to the laundromat while the pup pup is at the groomer’s Thursday morning.

I never minded going to the laundromat before I got married. It’s quick and convenient. Maybe more so now I’m so far behind. Throw everything in 4 or 5 washers, get it going; walk two blocks to Horton’s and grab a coffee; take a sip or two and then switch everything into dryers; finish the coffee and start folding.

Speaking about school, kids in FL go back to school in 2 days, August 10 and the high school football teams have been practicing for the last few weeks to get ready for some Friday night football coming soon!

Our school start practice for all fall sports the first week in August. The first home football game for us is next Friday, girls volleyball, and cross country have their first meets/matches the next week. But our students don't start actual school until the last week of August. Still plenty of summer left though for me!

Summer conditioning for FL high school football starts late May to early August. First game is mid August to early November for 12-13 game season. Friday night football is what brings out the town out to the stadium to cheer on the kids.

I hope the town shows up for the other sports and arts too. My town is very small and very supportive all kids activities, the Drama department's yearly musical is very popular.

Football is honestly probably the least prestigious sport where I work. Probably because we aren't good. At all. Never have been since I've been here. Our biggest sports are probably baseball and track & field. The club baseball/softball teams and the club ice hockey teams are more popular than the school sports.

There's also a pretty big dance program in town, but also not through the schools.
