I have done most of my planning for our vacation that begins in two weeks.
If anyone wants to post on my thread they are certainly welcome.....or wait until I'm there and posting photos.
Whatever floats your boat!? 🤣 🚢🛳️
In case I forget to say it later, or don't have time to come on here, have a great trip!!

I spent the past three days at a PLC Institute in Madison. For non-educators, it's a conference about collaborating in teams.

Educators know that PLCs can have a bad wrap, but I am 100% in favor of it. The speakers were so amazing and inspiring. I learned so much, and I'm so excited to take the learning back to our staff. You probably won't know them, but Luis Cruz and Anthony Muhammad are amazing people. So knowledgeable and inspiring. Amazing presenters.

The conference was totally worth waking up at 4:15 each morning.
I've never heard of PLCs. I had to google it, but I'm wondering why they get a bad wrap? Learning is a good thing, right?

Tomorrow is Mission Impossible day for me. I've seen all the previous films, but I can't say I remember much. So hopefully it makes sense, but I usually enjoy them even if I don't know what's going on. 🤣
My husband and son are going to watch it today. My daughter and I are going to see Elemental tomorrow. It just came out here this past week and I've been waiting for it. I haven't heard ANYTHING from anyone who has seen it and the only thing I saw was that it was a flop in the box office in the US. I didn't realize it came out earlier there, so when I read it was a flop, I was like "How do they know that? It isn't even out yet!" So I had to look it up, but honestly, I think Covid just kind of killed theaters. No one wants to sit in an enclosed space with a hundred strangers for 2 hours in close proximity when they can wait for a few weeks or months for it to come out on a streaming service and they can watch on their big screen TV with the snacks they don't have take out a mortgage to pay for, and they can have bathroom breaks and sit in a much more comfortable chair. I think there's still something to be said for the big screen, but it's kind of nice that it's usually pretty empty now.

Elemental looks a lot like Inside Out to me. I really liked Inside Out and strongly felt that it could be adjusted to replace Imagination and be bright, colorful, entertaining and fun. If they remember how to make an attraction like that anymore. Elemental seems, to me, to be a little heavy and not really intellectually something one could easily relate too. Combining Emotion and Elements might make it understandable though.

I saw Elemental when it came out here and I liked it. I didn’t know anything about it before I saw it, the previews didn’t reveal much which in a way was refreshing. I think you have a point about people waiting to see movies in their homes now. It can be more comfortable at home. We have started to go to a theater a little further away from our house for movies now because they have a little more of a luxury experience with cozy recliners, really good buttery popcorn, and as good regular food menu too. And they are very strict about people talking and using phones during the movie. The theater closer to home has old style seats and the popcorn isn’t very good and they don’t really enforce quiet rules.

It has a similar look to Inside Out but I don’t think there was any similarities in the storyline. Maybe when it comes out on Disney plus you can give it a shot or try it with a cheaper matinee.

Most PLCs aren't done right. At the conference, they called them "PLC Lite". PLC Lite doesn't work, and most districts don't take the time to fully develop PLCs, so staff feel like it's just another program to try and eventually stop.

I'll offer a different perspective.
I don't like my time in PLCs.
I'm mixed in with the school Media Arts Center Teacher, The Classroom Music Teacher and the Art Teacher.
There is nothing I can say to help them and there is nothing they can say that helps me.
It's just wasted time.
This is JUST MY viewpoint that is very specifically focused on MY situation. It is definitely NOT a criticism of what @PUSH has shared. I'm glad the PLCs he attended WERE worth his time.

My husband has a kind of membership thing to the theater in Arnhem, because he and his brother like to have whole movie weekends where they'll plan out which movies they want to see and then they go from one to the next for a whole day or for 2 days, and they get discounts on snacks. It's a nice theater, but the nacho cheese they have is terrible. Nachos have never been a thing here and it's only in the last couple of years that theaters are starting to offer them in their snack options, but the theater here in our town is SO much better...it's like the American nacho cheese, BUT they don't have plain tortilla chips. They have BBQ flavor ones. So I need to sneak in regular ones tomorrow to go with the good nacho cheese.

I booked our tickets for Elemental for tomorrow, and we are the only ones who have tickets so far. To be fair, we are going to the original version, not the Dutch dubbed one, and most people are going with kids who don't speek English, so the Dutch version is probably more popular. But I was surprised since I just booked at like 8pm tonight for 6pm tomorrow, it's less than 24 hours and there were no other seats booked.

But in like...probably November? we get our new couch that has super comfy reclining seats, and DH also wants to get a larger TV, so we'll be staying at home a lot more often to watch things in a more comfy place.

If the theater in our area was like that as well (enforcing quiet rules, no using phones during movie, etc.), I'd return to the theater, too. Glad you found a theater that provides a good experience for everyone there.

I liked Mission Impossible. Better than Indy. As long as you're not looking for more than an action movie, it's pretty good. I'd rate it 4 out of 5 stars.

Even though it's a Part One, I thought it was a good standalone movie.

We also go to a theater that's a little farther away, just so we can have better seats and a bigger screen. Our local theater is pretty small and run down. It's good for a quick movie, but if you want a true theater experience, you have to travel.

Here all we have are those cushy, reclining seats, with a school desk type moveable shelf to put food which gets delivered to your seat. I never went to movies for years but lately I have gone more. Problem is I don't go to just anything and as far as Marvel and the like are concerned I am totally not interested. Probably, connected to age! One of the advantage of being older than dirt is the senior discount for a matinee.

I have trouble with those seat because they hit my legs in the wrong spot and from all the problems I have had, it tends to make my legs feel numb. Not pleasant when you are trying to watch a movie.

For multitudes of reasons I think Tom Cruise is awful. I have been to only one Tom Cruise movie and I don't remember the name of it. It's the one where he slides across the floor in his tighty whities. Unimpressed.

I can’t get around Tom Cruise. If he’s the star of something, that’s a pass from me. Glad you enjoyed it though.
