Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Question.. Why is it that everyone here has said how good the new Indiana Jones movie is and yet it is failing on the national front? They are blaming it on Kathleen Kennedy from Disney for not understanding the fan base and passing on some different directions the film might have made.

Second part of that question is.. How does anyone know what the film actually is until they actually see it? Could it be that the venue has kinda lost its following but is still a good movie? I think it might have done better as far as drawing in if Spielberg had directed it. There are not many new fans and without Spielberg the old fans weren't impressed enough to attend. I know, for myself being 75 years old it is hard for me to imagine an 80 year old being an action hero even though I really like Harrison Ford and it wouldn't be worth making without him as Indiana.

Just a guess, but people are getting used to things coming out on their streaming services fairly quick so some people might be waiting. I am a huge Indiana Jones fan so I'm biased and think it was a great movie. I was so excited for the movie, I tried to talk my husband into seeing it while we were in France, but I was given a hard no. Even if I wasn't such an Indy fan, I think it is still a solid movie and has good action (even from an 80 year old). My other guess is that younger kids may not know the Indiana Jones movies much, every year I have less and less kids in my middle/high school classes that are familiar with them.

Oh and side note, when my husband and I finally got to see the movie we were the youngest ones (in our mid-40's) in the fairly full theater.

I'm sure it is, but the closer one gets to 80 years old the harder it is to think someone that age could be an action hero. More like a seated hero! 👴 I haven't seen it yet but I intend to, hopefully this week. :)

I put 1 and 3 as tied for first for me.

Raiders was the first and is truly iconic. Crusade was lighter and funnier, and Sean Connery makes everything he’s in better! I could happily sit and watch both of them, one right after the other.

There are two kinds of 80. Harrison Ford 80, and the rest of us.
The rest of us don't have all that Hollywood magic stuff that makes us seem younger than we really are. They can make him look like he ain't a day past 40 but his body begs to differ. He gets injured in some form almost every film now and you know he has stunt doubles. That said, I do admire and envy his good fortune of not aging as fast as most. I give credit to Calista Flockhart.

That's why old farts are attracted to younger women, partially wishful thinking and partially because if it works out those women are the actual "fountain of youth".

@NYwdwfan , be careful if you go swimming in the Long Island beaches. Just saw a news report that there have been 5 shark attacks in the past week or so, along that beach coastline. (Not sure if you and your family ever go there in the summer months, but just passing this along as an fyi only.)
Thank you! I've been following the shark stories. You would think we go to the beach all the time since they are all so close and there are so many of them but I get bored too easily to spend the day there and it's too much stuff to get together for just a couple hours.

I actually have 3 Targets in my area. One is huge, and the other two are "express" ones, but they still have a lot of things. As for the barbeque/grill section going MIA, I doubt they sold out what they had -- at least, it never was that way in early July before. By August, the stock would get lean, but not early July.
The two I'm talking about are just in North Raleigh there are many others in the area they are just not in my neighborhood.

The past two weeks here have been scaring the crap out of 100 degrees everyday. On the 4th I had gone to one of the three tiered driving ranges with my daughters family. When I went to get back in my car after my arm hit the metal part of the door and actually burnt my skin. Talk about being able to fry an egg on something. I don't mind as long as my AC works, but I curtail all outdoor activity that doesn't have shade attached and even then for a very limited time. Still beats the hell out of sub-zero weather.
So Sunday I mention that it's ok as long as my AC works, so today (Tuesday) it is broken down at the moment. They are working on it and since I rent it's no charge to me.

Indy 5 cost in excess of $300M to make. If one is going to be the sacrificial lamb it may be KK. Just to make a profit Indy 5 needs to make an excess of $750M. Harrison Ford got taken care of. His payday was $25M.

I always liked swimming in the ocean, but once I'm done swimming -- I want to leave. And if you drive to any of the beaches, it's hard to find a parking spot. There's one beach I can use public transportation to get to, but no facilities there. So once you're done swimming, you have to keep your swimsuit on, throw back on the t-shirt and jeans you wore to get there, and then get back on the train, and a bus to get back home. Yah, I don't go to beaches much anymore. ;)

I'm the same way. I'm not a "sit and relax" vacationer.

My attention span isn't great. It's gotten worse since I've become a teacher. My thought is that my attention shifts every two seconds with a group of 6 and 7 year olds, and my brain is trained to be all over the place. Movies are very difficult for me if I'm watching them at home. I can barely get through the first ten minutes without going to another website, or scrolling through social media, or start thinking about school.

Has anyone gotten any good Prime Day deals? I was looking this morning before I headed up to school, but didn't find much. I ordered one thing. It's probably a good thing that I'm pretty busy today and tomorrow.

And two hours after I posted how I haven't spent much money during Prime Day, I drop a good chunk at Under Armour. But I've been looking for new shoes for a while (I'm picky with my shoes), and they had ones I really like in a color I like. And then I also got 25% off my order. Joke's on them... I was willing to pay full price!
