Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

So after I complained that Walmart had school supplies out the other day, I did make my first back-to-school purchase of the year yesterday. I was at Target, and they had some of the teacher things out. They had enough matching caddies, and mine are all cracked, so I bought some to replace them.

Not gonna lie, I was pretty pumped about the caddies. I was with some friends, and they didn't understand.
I was in Target today in my area, and they have put out a few aisles of back-to-school supplies already! What floored me was that they had already removed their barbecue/grilling section supplies (it's only July 8th . . . :cautious: ).

Removed or sold out? I have tried using Target quite a few times over the past few years because I have heard so many "loyal" Targeters praise the place. Here in Raleigh they have built ginormous stores less than 5 miles apart. I have never been able to find anything I was looking for and, of course, just because a retail store has an internal Starbucks, it isn't going to make it the place to be.

Coolish here.

It went down to 53° overnight, so I set the furnace in the trailer to 61°. I didn’t hear it click on, but Mike says he did. Mike wouldn’t hear a freight train drive through our bedroom, so that might be debatable.
The past two weeks here have been scaring the crap out of 100 degrees everyday. On the 4th I had gone to one of the three tiered driving ranges with my daughters family. When I went to get back in my car after my arm hit the metal part of the door and actually burnt my skin. Talk about being able to fry an egg on something. I don't mind as long as my AC works, but I curtail all outdoor activity that doesn't have shade attached and even then for a very limited time. Still beats the hell out of sub-zero weather.

I can feel my brain getting into back to school mode. I found a teacher's Instagram page, and she has so many great ideas that I want to try. So that inspiration sparked my creativity. I have now ordered a yoga mat and foam floor tiles to create some activities for next school year. 🤪

Starting tomorrow I am teaching 3 consecutive weeks of Music Camp for my school district. Basically since our traditional school year didn't end until 1 :30pm on June 20th, it would be fair to say I am a 11th month employee. August is always "vacation month" and get my daughter back to college month. Yet this will be the final August for that. Our daughter will graduate this December.

I actually have 3 Targets in my area. One is huge, and the other two are "express" ones, but they still have a lot of things. As for the barbeque/grill section going MIA, I doubt they sold out what they had -- at least, it never was that way in early July before. By August, the stock would get lean, but not early July.

My youngest attended a Music Camp (1 week) when she was in eight grade. I'll be honest, I attended every concert my kids were involved with over the school years and the music shows were close to music, but not quite. The choices of pieces that were used were things that no one had ever heard of. It was obvious the the kids had no feelings for the music and it showed in a very unspectacular show.

Anyway, she wanted to go to this Music Camp and since I had been in the Barbershoppers (SPEBSQSA) with my Father when I was 12 years old, I thought it would be a good experience for her. And it was great. These were the same kids that just a couple weeks previous were singing with no enthusiasm or enjoyment had one week the learn the words, the music, the harmonies, build the sets and WOW, they were great. I have it on VCR and am planning to have it put on a CD since I no longer have a VCR Player anymore. If I remember correctly the name of the musical was Showboatin'. I don't recall a single note they missed or harmony not accomplished. I was never so proud of my girl and all the kids, but all the difference had to have come from the system/director/instructor. She belted out the lyrics with such confidence and joy I thought I was going to cry. She went on to join the Madrigal group in High School and they gave concerts all over the state and in the Statehouse in Montpelier for then Governor, Howard Dean.

I hope what I said isn't interpreted as an insult to school based music teachers because the limited time and concentration required for such a production along with lack of adequate funding of these events means they do the best they can. They do the best they can with the time and resources that they are given and I have great respect for all of them. I know it isn't easy to do and probably is a lot like herding cats.

This same thing applies to most High School Choruses as well. I found it sad that they weren't able to find or use music scores that the kids could really get into. That said, however, I did attend my granddaughters High School Concert and they took on “Bohemian Rhapsody”. They were terrific.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Might go crazy and make it 3 in 3 with the Haunted Mansion. Also my dad or friend and I might see Oppenheimer.
I had to go in to town today very early for an MRI, and then I had 6 hours in between before my volunteering shift. I had totally planned to go to the show.

Instead, I took my giant headachy self and went to the house (AKA - home 😂) and crawled into bed. Then I got up and watched the Jays.

Next up for me is Indy again with either Spenser or Mike, and then Barbie before Haunted Mansion.

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.

Question.. Why is it that everyone here has said how good the new Indiana Jones movie is and yet it is failing on the national front? They are blaming it on Kathleen Kennedy from Disney for not understanding the fan base and passing on some different directions the film might have made.

Second part of that question is.. How does anyone know what the film actually is until they actually see it? Could it be that the venue has kinda lost its following but is still a good movie? I think it might have done better as far as drawing in if Spielberg had directed it. There are not many new fans and without Spielberg the old fans weren't impressed enough to attend. I know, for myself being 75 years old it is hard for me to imagine an 80 year old being an action hero even though I really like Harrison Ford and it wouldn't be worth making without him as Indiana.
