Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

I can't believe tomorrow is our last day already. While it seems like a while since I've been home, I'm also not ready to go back.

When you're on a longer trip like this, it almost feels like it becomes just daily habits and routines. I'm going to miss being able to walk around the resort or try new foods. I'm going to miss the smells and ambiance. I'm going to miss being with family 24/7 (yes, you heard me right).

I could stay here for a month and be happy.
Up until recently I considered myself a pretty strong Disney Park fan. I spent all my spare time on my computer pulling up site after site related to WDW or Disneyland, I attended local WDW fan get together meeting at our local Disney Store in Raleigh, I made at least yearly trips to WDW driving from Vermont, sometimes more often, but you passed my theme park tolerance level right after 4 days. Maybe it is because I started much later. I was 35 on my first visit. I am however, in awe of how you can do that day after day after day and never lose interest. Sorry, you have to leave, but I'm pretty sure you will be back.

I'm starting to think that I must be quite like some of those ADD kids you run across in school. I'm easily distracted (squirrel) and get bored quickly and start looking for something new. Glad you are having a good time. Anyone that is teaching the most important part of education, the very start, that can set the kids on a path that makes them enjoy and want to learn more has my support.

I know that when my daughters started school, two years apart, they ended up with the same first grade teacher and both of them strived to learn, both were always at the top of their class through elementary and high school, both got large scholarships, one to Colorado College in Colorado Springs and the other at Tulane University in New Orleans. The second one went on to get her masters degree in business. It certainly wasn't from following my example, but I strongly feel that it was because they had such a positive start. You deserve the good time, you and every other teacher. Enjoy!!

Yesterday my school district closed in honor of Juneteenth.
TODAY we are back in for the last time. We're in to hug the kids and check out for the summer.
"Happy Last Day!" is the catch phrase of the day.
Tick ...tick...tick.....30 minutes to go.
5th graders who have been in this building for 6 years...kindergarten thru today....many are crying.

In that case going to school changed a lot since I attended. When we got to the last day in a specific school, We bid our friends good bye and left singing... The Animals...

We gotta get out of this place
If it's the last thing we ever do
We gotta get out of this place
'Cause, there's a better life for me and you 🤓🤓🙂🙂😉😉

Well there are a handful of boys who are possibly like that..........but most aren't and there were I'd estimate 40% of the girls who were just openly bawling as they went from favorite teacher to favorite teacher.
We have a nurturing elementary school.
Now all students are gone. Btw....I received a gift card to CARVEL. I'm gonna leave the building, get myself a free Carvel milkshake and then come back here to school to select my songs for my district's Summer Music Camp.
It's in July, but I'd rather just get in done now. If I went home there would be no wife (she's at work) and no daughter ( she's in Virginia).

Some kids don't have that consistency and routine at home. School is their safe place. Summer break can be really hard for a lot of kids, which is why you see more behaviors before breaks.

And some kids have really good home lives, but still thrive on the relationships they've built at school, which suddenly vanish as soon as the last bell rings.

I can't remember if I've shared this here, but I had one boy last year who is probably my favorite kid I've ever had. He has a fantastic family, and a great home life. But he has a lot of anxieties, and struggles with the unknown. For him, school is consistent and routine. He knows what to expect. Over the summer everything changes. He thrives on the relationships he makes with his teachers, and he had a really hard time leaving me. Anytime we wrote or spoke about the end of the year, he said he was sad. When I asked why, he said he was going to miss me. I offered to meet up with him throughout the summer. So his mom and I exchanged numbers, and we're going to set something up. I'll probably text her right after my vacation.

I normally wouldn't do that, and never have before, as I fell it can cross boundaries. But this is the right combination of kid and his family.

He had a really tough kindergarten year with his anxiety, but he thrived this year. We had a 504 plan meeting for him in the spring, and his mom came in and just hugged me and thanked me for how much I've done for him.

It's just a special kid and a special family. This is probably the strongest relationship I've ever built with a kid, and one of the strongest relationships I've had with a family.

At Magoc Kingdom today we all split off to do our own things in the morning. My cousin and I decided to do shops (she's pregnant and can't do many rides). Then we got some breakfast at Joffrey's.

After some got off Mine Train, we used our Tron virtual queue. Then we did Buzz, Peoplemover, Pooh, and Haunted Mansion.

We then left and ate at Flipper's Pizza, which is offsite.

Since then we've come back to the resort. I bought a Chip and Dale succulent from the gift shop, and we've been packing. ☹️

In a bit we'll head to the MK parking lot and take the monorail to Epcot. We'll finish up a few rides and then head back to MK for Happily Ever After.

I hear you! I was the exact same -- couldn't stand school. Did what I had to do to graduate, and got out. What I did enjoy, was the jr. college I went to, after grade school and high school were over. Had a blast there -- lots of different people from all over, different ages, veterans, etc. went there. Classes were interesting, and those were 2 years that I finally enjoyed.

Now, as is the case for both @SteveBrickNJ and @PUSH, their experiences with their students are very different -- for the better. I'm happy to hear that some schools now are a beacon of hope and happiness, for a number of kids (and their wonderful teachers ;)).

It was amazing!! I think we got spoiled, we had no issues whatsoever.

Wish I could have visited Shea back in the day!

ps So sorry to read about your Aunt. Prayers for your whole family!
Love NYC! We haven’t been since before the pandemic. I’m glad you had a great trip.

Thank you for your prayers. The funeral was today. Everything went as well as could be expected.
