My principal was gone on our first day. But for good reason. Her daughter had a pretty aggressive jaw surgery, and she is very sore. Needed to stay home to take care of her. I love my principal, though, so I can't complain.

Your wife always has an eye for seasonal decorations. And I like the fact that they are never overdone -- less is more sometimes. I know you've recently redone that room in your house, and the finished product looks really nice.

Fair enough. But since we don't have AC here, summer is miserable. I don't do well with heat. I feel nauseated, my head aches, and I have zero energy. I would much prefer Disney in the winter if we could travel then, but we can't. But at least Disney has AC, so we're not in the heat all the time. But in the winter, I have heating in the house. And I can wrap up in a blanket with a good book and some hot chocolate and I'm a happy camper. I can escape the cold in a way I can't escape the heat.

Today we drove 3+ hours to visit my wife's friends. They moved from the Jersey Shore to the Poconos. Somewhere within 30 minutes of Scranton PA. I am not quite sure...I just followed Google maps. Anyway, the back of their home overlooks this....

@JenniferS, don't forget dish soap tomorrow.
It just dawned on me... tomorrow will be the first time I've ever taught a full day on a Wednesday. In years' past we've had early release every Wednesday for professional development for staff. This year kids are off the second Monday of every month, and that's when we're doing professional development. It was kind of nice to have Wednesdays be early releases, but it created lots of scheduling headaches, and not every day was consistent. I think I'll end up liking this better. It will be nice to have at least one "day off" every month. Even though I still have to work.
