Hope the pickup has a BIG tank. My father had a 1963 Buick LaSabre with the largest engine Buick made at the time. It took high octane gas and got 6 miles per gallon pulling an 19.5 foot Mallard Travel trailer. On toll highways where there were built in Gas stations he tried once to skip one of the stations and we all sat nervously on the edge of our plastic covered car seats with fingers crossed for us to make it to the next one. It made it but it was running on fumes when we got there. And that wasn't through the mountains. It was basically a flat surface.

We just bought 2 20l gas cans. Hopefully no one stops us from trying to put 5 gallons into a 20 litre jerry can.😉
