Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

I am pretty sure lightning just struck in the field that our yard backs right up to. There was an extremely bright flash with a MASSIVE boom and rumbled for at least 10-15 seconds. You could feel it in your chest. I've never felt lightning and thunder quite like that.

I may have also let out a "holy flamingo", except I didn't say flamingo, but instead a different word starting with the same sound.

That is so not a thing in Canada. I never got the joke until it was explained to me.

Up here, the number one solicitation call is air duct cleaning. 9 out of 10 times I fib and say that I live on the 19th story of a high rise condominium and that I don’t think I even have ducts.

1 out of 10 times I totally jerk them around! That’s the fun time.
I get, on average, 7 robo calls a day. It used to be just extended warrantee calls (even when I had a brand new car with bumper to bumper warrantees). Those have finally let up, but now it is mostly Medicare supplements. I have occasionally tried to explain that I don't need either but to no avail. Fortunately I have caller ID and my phone service will show "scam likely" as ID so I just don't answer. They change phone numbers from call to call so blocking a phone number is useless. Not answering is my solution.

I'm planning on a visit FOR SURE.
We were just out front playing the bean bag toss game with the kids next door, and the neighbours asked us the same thing.

Mike said we were looking into it. News to me. Truth is, we can’t book anything until the builders meetings in two weeks, which will give us a better idea when we are back to work.

There’s a chance we might have to pack up a few days early as is. That being said, in 33 years, I have yet to work a site that opened on or before the original planned date. Not once.
Keep me posted on this one as well.
Would you share the zucchini bread recipe? I have a great banana bread recipe, but I don’t actually like banana bread (so I give it away).
I was going to ask as well! I am going to have quite a lot of zucchini in a few weeks.
What do you look for in a campsite? I know some people like it quiet and stay at their site the whole time, but others like trails or points of interest nearby. Or are you still figuring that out?
I can answer this - pull thru.
My car's AC went out, and I was quoted $1900 to fix it. 😢
That suuucks. It's pretty new? I recall you getting yours just before I got mine.
The parts are about $400. The labor is by far the most expensive. But my other options are not having AC, or getting a new car and paying way more. I drive a 2017 Chevy Impala, so it's not like it's super old. It's also paid off, so I'm going to keep riding it for as long as I can. Especially with the prices of cars and the lack of inventory right now.
Talk to the dealership. When I had an issue with a seatbelt recall (they fixed it but the receptacle cracked and it had to be fixed again at my cost since the recall had already been performed) and they said that every GM car has a one time warranteed item that they will split the cost with you if it is outside the warranty window. I'll see if I can find anything about it online. Maybe since it's new just ask them if there was any sort of a recall on the AC and see what they say.
I changed the notification alert on my phone to the Star Tours chime. It makes me happy when I get a notification. :)

Also, I could totally go back for a full week at Disney right now.
That's what mine has been for years!

I'm pretty confident that mice are the reason it's not working anymore. So I doubt they would cover for that. I also take my car to the shop at the dealership I bought it from, so they would be aware of any recalls.

Scary!! Some people love storms, but they scare the bejeezus out of me. We were at a friend's house once for one of their kids' birthdays, I think, and there was a storm. We were sitting in the living room, and suddenly this big streak of lightning came through. You could see it travel along a light fixure on the ceiling, and down, and everyone sitting on that side of the room felt a tingle, even though none of them were touching anything electric. It was so freaky!!

When we lived in the US, we got so many of those calls that I asked my husband to teach me something in Dutch. Any phrase that I could learn to say fluently so if I answered the phone and it was a telemarketer, I could use the phrase and they would think I didn't speak English. Since Dutch isn't a common language there, the chance was slim that the person on the phone would understand what I said. He taught me to say "May I use your toothbrush to wipe my butt?".

Also, I set up a Google Voice number when we went on a field trip, so chaperones could contact me without having me real number. The way they're set up, you have to record your name and reason for the call before it'll send you through. So you can listen to who it is and why they're calling before you even accept the call.

@JenniferS , I don't recall how many days you're both at your first campsite (or RV site -- whatever it's called). From what you've shared, it sounds pleasant. Aside of the sight-seeing and beach visit, have you met any other vacationers? Since the vehicles are parked in proximity to one another, I wasn't sure if that led to more of a neighborhood type of situation, with folks chatting with one another -- perhaps while sitting in outdoor lawn chairs in the evening, etc.

Our first trip to the 1000 Islands was 2 nights - about one night too short, so this trip to Long Point was 3 nights. We had to be back for today because it’s the Ski’s birthday. (My baby turned 26. 😭)

3 days/nights would have been perfect except Mike had to come back to town for a coaching clinic yesterday and to pick up my Auntie. (It was on her bucket list to see the lake and run her toes through the sand again before she moves on to her next after-life adventure.) And then Mike drove her back home - 3 hour return trip, so yesterday was a bit of a write off for him.

So … first two trips were each a day too short. Next trip is 15 days. Can’t see that one being too short. 😂😂😂

Also, while the campsites are in close proximity to each other, they are configured such that your “campsite area” adjacent to the RV entry door faces the “back wall” of the adjacent RV.

Essentially you’re lined up like horizontal toy soldiers all facing the same direction. Most interaction occurs as people are walking by. Everyone wants to stop and pet the puppy. (She still looks like a pup, so everyone is shocked when we say she is more than two.)

People are much more friendly in weekly/daily campgrounds as compared to seasonal sites. We did seasonal in 2010 and 2011. I hated it. I was actually hesitant to buy a trailer for that reason. We bought this to travel, and travel we will!

I have been fairly under  control avoiding talking about Ireland....but I'm just a month and 3 days from my trip. ;)
I hope that we will have weather  like they are having this week.....
I’ve been admiring your restraint for six days…😁

I hope the weather will stick for you. It was pretty miserable at the end of June.

As we approach August I will copy others and make a separate thread for myself. That way when in Ireland I can post photos easily and in an organized manner.
I might PM you in late July to ask a couple of Aer Lingus check in questions. Would that be ok?

You betcha. I hope that the Dublin Airport Authority will have straightened out its issues by the time you’re coming back after your holiday. It was pretty bad two weeks ago.
