Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Well so far, from what I can see in the dark, it looks like the trampoline is still standing! The netting is all ripped off, but it looks like it's upright and in place. But it's still blowing hard out there, so who knows what it will look like in the morning. 🤞

We had a really bad wind storm in the fall, and the neighbors down the street had their trampoline blow over, up against a tree. It's been sitting there ever since. Looks terrible.

We had one a few years ago that blew the trampoline over and up against our back door. This time, the wind just ripped the netting off, and I think that's probably why it's not up-ended. The wind usually catches the netting like it's a sail, but without that sail, it doesn't go anywhere. It's pretty bad though. I just saw a video of a church tower swaying, and another of a whole street of nothing but blown over trees. 4 people have died so far, all from fallen trees. It's a bit blowy out there.

I hope she's on board!! Does your daughter have scholarships or grants or anything to help financially? Neither of my parents were able to put anything towards our educations. My brother and I were both pretty lucky that we got good scholarships. He got a full ride, and I got tuition and fees, so I got some grants and worked to pay for room and board and books. I had enough local scholarships to pay for my first entire year. But man, is college expensive!!!

I'd love to visit more of Ireland than just Dublin, but it will only be a weekend, and I'll be going myself and won't have a car. I don't dare drive myself there, and the book release party is going to be an adults only thing as it will take place in a drag bar. (The book is set in the Dublin drag queen scene, so the launch party will include drag shows and alcohol and things not suitable for minors) So my kids will stay home with my husband and I'll be flying into Dublin, taking a taxi or something to the hotel, which is next to the release venue, and that's as far as I will get.) But someday, I'd LOVE to see some of the Irish countryside!!
My daughter has some academic based scholarships. She has to keep her grades up to maintain them. She has done so nicely. That still leaves us with Tuition, Room and a Meal Plan coming to about $15,000. I set money aside from every paycheck since she was one years old. It's called a 529 plan. I'm still participating in that.
Focusing on you....it's a shame you'll just see Dublin for now. I mean...Dublin looks cool and I look forward to potentially spending our first 2 nights there....but yeah, it would've been great if you could see something else.
There is a Dublin train that I took in 1996 that has been modernized. Possibly consider using it to leave the city? 🤔 It's called the D.A.R.T
...which stands for Dublin Area Rapid Transit.

This website has lots of photos. Dream like this...You could get on the DART Train.....look out the window....get off at your chosen destination....catch the next train back to Dublin. A 2 hour time block maybe. Something to consider.
Feel free to ask questions. ;)
Within the city itself is something new-ish that was not there when I was in Dublin in the late 90s.
This new-ish system is called LUAS

I don't remember what it's called, but we took a bus of some sort when we went to Dublin in 2017. We were there with a group of friends from the Harry Potter fan site we all belonged to at the time. It's since defunct, but we're still all friends, and this is how I met my author friend. We are a really tight-knit little group of friends, and we were all beta readers for her. We went to London and did the studio tour there, and went to Lacock to the Abbey where a lot of the filming took place. Then a couple of years later, we all got together in Dublin. I don't even remember why we chose Dublin, but 1 of the gals lives in Northern Ireland, 2 of them are from England and grew up together, one of them being the author who now lives in Ireland, one from Australia, and one from the US. Most of us have kids, so we brought the kids and they all got to meet each other and play...it was lots of fun. We went to the Dublin Zoo, and to some former castle there....it was nice. But I remember the bus we took was a double decker and we sat upstairs right at the front and we all got really motion sick. It was actually rather terrifying sitting where we were, because things were so close it looked like we would hit them and then suddenly we'd stop abruptly. I'd rather not repeat that experience, and I don't know if the train goes near where we'll be staying. The venue is apparently really close to a hotel that she said is not fancy, but it's clean and literally like across the street, which is good because it's not a very good area to be out after dark. So we'll party it up at the release with drag shows and booze, and then stumble across the street to the hotel and crash, and then go home the next day. There really won't be time for anything else from my understanding. It's just to support our friend and buy her book, which we've all been waiting more than a decade for her to get published and we are just excited for her.

It's not really a trip to Dublin to site see. I'm hoping everyone will be able to make it so we can all stick together. My family stayed apart from the rest of the group last time because they had gotten a block of rooms somewhere, and my family wasn't sure we'd be able to make it until the last minute, so we had other accommodations. But I have a terrible sense of direction and since I'll be by myself, I don't feel comfortable trying to navigate anywhere. I won't have my husband with me this time to help with that, so I hope the rest of the group comes and we'll all be in the same place and won't need to go anywhere else. I'm really not a solo traveler!!

From the latest reports, it seems like we're supposed to start with a wintry mix and freezing rain tomorrow evening, with more ice and small amounts of snow on Tuesday. I wouldn't be surprised if Tuesday is a delay or cancellation for schools.

Snow day tomorrow. More like ice day. I'm happy it's ice for two reasons. 1) They are much more likely to call off school for ice than snow. 2) Ice doesn't stick around like snow does.

This is our first big ice storm since 2019.

Snow day here tomorrow too. Should be snow not ice. I’m not a fan of ice right now since I took a fall on some this morning.
