Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
So, @JenniferS and @NYwdwfan , I was just thinking about Jennifer (a confirmed "night owl") and wondering if NYwdwfan is also one, or if she keeps more normal hours. If one person is a night person, and the other person is a day person, how will you two coordinate your vacation day schedules, out in Disneyland? Now, add to that, (NYwdwfan, in particular), there's also the time change for the West Coast, compared to what you're used to out here.

Can't wait to hear about how both of you have planned for all this -- or, perhaps I'm overthinking it. Maybe once you enter Disneyland, pixie dust is flying around and erases all semblance of time? ;) :joyfull:
Legit, I am often going to bed as she is getting up. We will both adjust. We’ll probably be totally in synch by the last day. 😂

We will also take advantage of the hotel being a mere 5 mins away from the parks and will probably rest/nap in the afternoon.

Location, location, location . . . :joyfull: Five minutes away from the park -- can't top that!!

I'm sure you'll both try to accommodate one another's time preferences, but I suspect there will be some humorous stories to tell! :p

Somebody ( me ) is turning 60 and I want to see these locations in Ireland and Northern Ireland. We'll see if my wife will be willing to support this admittedly expensive dream of mine.
If there’s anything I’ve learned it is that tomorrow is never promised. If you can swing it financially - DO IT!

60 is a milestone birthday. Celebrate it.

I am able to take money from my 401k.
That money is for my retirement....but I have no plans to retire....so why not spend some of it this August?....because....I'm gonna keep working and in that sense I'll put it back anyway.

If I was single there would be nothing to think about....I'd just do it.
Yet I am 50% of a marriage and I want her blessing.

Exciting!! Years ago, I visited Ireland and really enjoyed it. (Never been to Northern Ireland, though. ) Went with a friend and her family, and I was happy that her husband did the driving -- as it was on the opposite side of the road, from what we're used to over here. :joyfull:

We visited many places in Ireland, stayed at B&Bs, and we all had a blast over there.

Enjoy!! You only live once. :)

Why might you not go? Looks like fun! I'm going to Dublin in November for my friend's book release! I can't wait!

edit: I see you haven't talked to your wife. Is this a solo trip, or would she come with you? I can't imagine NOT wanting to travel if I had the chance!

This would be a trip for us to enjoy as a couple.
She likes to travel, but we are paying $15K every semester for our daughter's college. So we are not swimming in disposable cash 😄
The only money available for a week in Europe would be to pull from my retirement fund.....which I CAN do without penalty because I am beyond 59 1/2 years old.
I'll be 60 on March 19th.

I have a friend from Ireland. She grew up there and her parents had a house in Florida where they would go when it's winter in Ireland. She was visiting her parents while on break from college and met her future husband, who was visiting HIS parents who were snow birds from Long Island. And she's lived here ever since. ❤️

I did take my wife and daughter to Ireland in April of 2012. Here is a ten year old photo of us I taped up on my Band Room Shelf a decade ago....20220218_152943.jpg

I hope she's on board!! Does your daughter have scholarships or grants or anything to help financially? Neither of my parents were able to put anything towards our educations. My brother and I were both pretty lucky that we got good scholarships. He got a full ride, and I got tuition and fees, so I got some grants and worked to pay for room and board and books. I had enough local scholarships to pay for my first entire year. But man, is college expensive!!!

I'd love to visit more of Ireland than just Dublin, but it will only be a weekend, and I'll be going myself and won't have a car. I don't dare drive myself there, and the book release party is going to be an adults only thing as it will take place in a drag bar. (The book is set in the Dublin drag queen scene, so the launch party will include drag shows and alcohol and things not suitable for minors) So my kids will stay home with my husband and I'll be flying into Dublin, taking a taxi or something to the hotel, which is next to the release venue, and that's as far as I will get.) But someday, I'd LOVE to see some of the Irish countryside!!

February 22 is also 2-22-22 and a Tuesday, therefore it's TWOS Day. We will celebrate accordingly at school. We're going to make time capsules they can open when they are seniors on 3-3-33, as well as two-themed activities.
