Hey friends,
I was cleaning up the attic and I came across my high school yearbook (senior year).
Someone I knew back then was in a club that is identified in the yearbook only as:
C.O.E
*
One google search result suggests it means: "Character Over Everything"
Hmmm....maybe.
Anyone agree with that or does anyone happen to know what C.O.E. might have meant back in "my day'?
Church of England?

In my day, C usually stood for Campus. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don't know what it stands for, but I know the C.O.E. program when I was in school was to give kids work experience. They went to school most of the time, but would have a couple of hours off on certain days to do a sort of internship at a local business. I worked in an engineering office one summer, and there was a COE student who answered phones, did filing, computer work, etc. She was just finishing up her internship and then a new COE student came in to start hers. I'm not sure if that's the same thing, but it could be...it sounded like a kind of FBLA thing, but it was more for administration type jobs, like secretary, receptionist, etc.

Yes @Songbird76
That makes sense.
This girl I saw in the group COE photo would have joined a club like that to prepare her for the job he took after graduation.
She did not go to college but she did work in an office setting.
Thank you!

Following your thought on C.O.E....
C could = Career?
O could = Occupation?
E could = Experience ?

Seems plausible. We didn't have the program at my school or I'd probably have done it, but our town was too small... Not enough businesses with offices like that. I commuted 45 miles each way to get to the job in the engineering office and the girls doing COE went to the high school in the big town. It was always a struggle for me to find a job as a high school student. I tutored, and I did timing and scoring for ball games at school, but that was it for job opportunities during the school year.

Could be but that would be kind of redundant between Career and Occupation. Experience could be different. I think that Character Over Everything seems noble, I'd go with that.

When I went to school the alphabet ended at N so whatever it is was after my time.;) Apparently the Phoenicians hadn't had that meeting yet. They were forced into it when someone finally asked what that stick they used to row the boat was called and they didn't have a word for it yet. After months of deliberations that finally settled on OAR then added O to R to the alphabet. It remained that way for a long time while they rested up from O,P,Q, & R than someone else asked what that big piece of cloth was that let the wind push the boat and they had to come up with SAIL and so on until they finally watched a TV program where this guy wearing a mask over his eyes named Zorro left a peculiar slash initial imbedded in his victims, so they had to come up with S through Z and after that they permanently adjourned the meeting and everyone went out for a few beers.

Still, she worked in an office and needed skills.
This club probably was her first step in establishing a path in that direction.

Maybe the O = Opportunity
Career Opportunity Experience ????

What is COE class?

Cooperative Education (C.O.E)

This is a work-based learning experience includes structured work experiences that are directly related to the student's educational program. ... Co-op offers students an opportunity to extend the classroom into a workplace setting.

Great job! 😎😉 We were on the right track but you successfully and accurately crossed the finish line first.

Yep, my mom oversees co-op for her school. She coordinates with local businesses so students can get real-life work experience during school hours and get paid for it.

I've scored the third most points in my fantasy league through two games, and I am 0-2. I just happened to play the teams that scored the most points in the league the first two weeks, and I was right up there both times in the top three point totals each week. Talk about unlucky.

Edit: BTW, I've come back a day later to state: lest anyone thinks I was serious...this Canadians On Ethanol was only designed to make the reader smile. I'm just being silly. Re C.O.E....I received the correct response from @NYwdwfan already ;)
