We're finally supposed to get snow!!! We got a very little bit a few weeks ago, but it was gone by morning. This time we're supposed to get between 10 and 30 cm (4-12 inches) in the course of the weekend, so that will be nice. My daughter is anxious to go out and play in the snow.
We may get some on Monday 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Woohoo....party time! Just out of curiosity, would you normally be there when the cleaning lady comes? Or would you be at work? I ask because my mom cleaned houses as her main job, and I took over a lot of her clients when she got sick and I was doing my student teaching. Most of them were at work when I was cleaning, but there were a couple who liked to follow me around and make sure I did things the "right" way. I was just curious how it works with other people.
We were almost always at work, except for the months I was laid up with a bum knee or hip.

There is no official enforcement. That being said there is nowhere to go to other than out for a walk. Everything is closed except for supermarkets and pharmacies. Even takeaways are closed. And with the weather the last two weeks you are lucky to get two dry hours a day.
Living on such a small island people would know if you have been breaking the rules and would inform the relevant groups.
Max fine of £10,000 if you break quarantine rules if you enter the island or have a positive test. There have been a few fined / jailed for such offences.
Wow...they take it seriously there! Our fine if we're out past curfew is 95 euros. And I think it's similar for not wearing a mask where mandated. In the first lockdown, it was 400 Euros I think for not distancing or being out with too many people. And they couldn't do contact tracing at that point, so no one knew if you were supposed to be in quarantine. That was all on the honor system.

Is it safe there, then? To let someone into your house? The town we lived in only had about 1200 people, and everyone knew everyone, and most people didn't even lock their doors when they were gone. The only time we ever locked our doors was when we had some neighbors with little kids and they literally locked the kids out of their house at 8 in the morning and you'd hear the kids banging on the door asking to be let in you use the bathroom, or whatever. My mom had to go out and rescue one of them when she fell off her bike and was pinned under it, screaming bloody murder and no one ever came out to check on her. We had a dog and those kids loved the dog, and sometimes mom would put the dog outside so they could play with him. Then one day the dog was out and not on his chain, and I found one of my earrings on the porch. The kids had come into the house while we weren't there. And my best friend lived down the street and came home to an empty iguana cage...the kids had gone in and taken the igauna outside to play. That was the only time we ever had to lock our doors, until they moved out. But that's in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere....the closest town is 40 miles away. And if your cleaning lady was being dishonest, she wouldn't have any clients anymore.

Masks are only a recommendation not mandatory here.

I knew her personally before she started cleaning for me. We have many mutual friends, primarily my missionary Auntie, for whom she also cleans. She works for the school board full time, and is subjected to rigorous police checks annually.

Also, there is very little I own worth stealing. If you want it and ask for it, I’d probably just give it to you anyway. 🤷🏼‍♀️

They are finally getting around to plowing out street. Normally they would have come by already. Even the plows were having a hard time getting around today.

With heavy winds, there could be a potential for a 2-hour delay tomorrow, or even another snow/virtual day. Our recently shoveled driveway already looks like it's had more snow fall because of the blowing snow.

That's really nice! My mom got a couple of jobs when a lady who had been cleaning got caught stealing jewelry from her clients. That ended her career in the cleaning business. Mom had some really awesome clients, too....they treated her like family. There was an elderly lady who owned a buffalo ranch several miles out of town and had this GORGEOUS house with beautiful views, and she let us come out and take senior pictures there. (Is that a "thing" in Canada? Senior portraits?) And if she needed to go to Casper for a doctor appt. or something, she'd have my mom drive her, and she paid her the same as cleaning. She knew we didn't have much, so she always tried to find ways to give mom a few more hours. She was a riot, too....very funny and sweet.
