Our kids are finally returning to in-class starting 2/8 for most regions, and 2/16 for the three hotspot regions.

Masks are now mandated for previously exempted grades 1-3 as well.
We are looking to change some of our policies. Masks are still mandated per school board policy. But in a couple weeks we may start sending out kids back to the art room for art, rather than having her come to our room. And we might start letting grade levels mix at recess, rather than keeping our class separate from others.

Our cleaning lady came for the first time since before Christmas. Mike and I and Daisy cleared out for three hours. Nowhere to go/nothing to do.

Grabbed a coffee and sat in the parking lot for 90 minutes. 😂 Then we went to the poultry butcher, took the long way to an out of town grocery store, and then the long way home.

Do we know how to party during lockdown, or what?!?

Actually, it was nice to get out of the house. The puppy snuggled in my lap for three hours, and Mike and I just talked and talked. And then we came home to a spotless house.

I was talking to a coworker last week, and we both said how we've gotten used to staying at home all the time. At the start of the pandemic, it was so boring and repetitive. Now it's just kind of become routine. I pretty much only leave the house to go to work.

Obviously, I still would like the option to go do things again, but I've gotten used to doing nothing.

We were told if we have a snow day tomorrow, it will be a virtual learning day. :(

We are supposed to get 3-6 inches of snow, and some ice. It's not supposed to start until 8ish, and it's supposed to last through the evening.

We might be getting some similar weather, the forecast is off and on. Sometimes 3-6 with some ice and then a dusting. I guess we will see what happens. We haven't been told anything about virtual learning vs snow day though.

There is literally nothing to do here. We’re in a state of emergency lockdown. Malls are closed. As are movie theatres, churches, restaurants, and stores not named Costco or WalMart. Heck, our kids aren’t even back in class following Christmas break yet.

Everyone who can work from home, must work from home. Mike and I are both sold out, so we’re not even doing work from home either. We have a number of home improvement projects to do, but Lowe’s and Depot are closed to all but curbside pick-up, and some projects demand “browsing” and/or speaking with an associate to get exactly the right electrical, plumbing connection.

Yep we will be having similar wind chills. Why do I live here again?:bored::) The nice summers make me have temporary amnesia towards winter.
On recess duty yesterday, I was looking at all the snow and thinking how magical it would be when it all starts to melt. The wonderful feeling of 45 degree weather and snow melting. A sign of better things to come.

We are in the same boat over here atm. We can't even get out for a drive. The only outings allowed are up to two hours exercise or food shopping/ medical reasons.

On the plus side, our numbers (in Ontario, Canada) are much better than the immediate post-Christmas period - despite a paltry number of vaccinations having been administered, due to supply shortage.

I support short term pain for long term gain. Thankfully we are in a position that we can ride it out. Our bills are current, there is some money in savings, the pantry is full, and our adult kids still live at home, so we’re not separated. I know that many, many people are not so fortunate, so I am sure to count our blessings daily. Boredom is not something to complain about.

Hopefully your region is realizing some progress from your sacrifices also. ❤️

Mrs Ferret is still working full time , as she is a supermarket worker , so we have a full wage coming in. I will be on minimum wage until we can reopen. Thankfully we also live in the same house as my parents so that is a plus.
Numbers are higher than the first wave . But the daily numbers are dropping.
Hopefully we can have a summer like last year where we had no restrictions 🤞.

Woohoo....party time! Just out of curiosity, would you normally be there when the cleaning lady comes? Or would you be at work? I ask because my mom cleaned houses as her main job, and I took over a lot of her clients when she got sick and I was doing my student teaching. Most of them were at work when I was cleaning, but there were a couple who liked to follow me around and make sure I did things the "right" way. I was just curious how it works with other people.

Sounds about like here. Everything is closed except grocery stores and drug stores/pharmacies. They ask everyone to work from home if possible, but it's not mandated....they are thinking about that though. And we have a curfew...you can't be out between 9pm and 4:30am unless it's for work, taking your dog out, or a medical emergency. My husband isn't even allowed to pick me up from work after 9, so I can't work in the evenings as usual because I have no way to get home. They are opening elementary schools next week, though high schools and colleges will remain online only. Everything else is closed until at least March 2nd. So there's nowhere to go, nothing to do.

Part of A's homework tonight was to play a game, so we played skip bo. And E and I watch a lot of series on Netflix...Friends, Gilmore Girls, Glee, Big Bang Theory (we just finished that one in time for it to be removed from Netflix), and we also just finished watching Boy meets world and Girl meets world on Disney plus. My husband just had an exam today to be able to do energy labels for buildings. Only 30 out of a thousand people who took the test a couple months ago passed....now he said only 300 people in the Netherlands have passed, but he doesn't know how many took the test. He passed, so he's one of 300 people in the whole country who can do these labels. And my daughter won a speech contest at her school and moves on to the regional contest, so we wanted to celebrate tonight, but there's nothing we can really do. We let them have soda with dinner. We're partiers, too!

How do they enforce that? How do they know if you've been out for more than 2 hours? We have a curfew and you have to have the paperwork to go out after 9 or you get a fine. But there's no limit on how long you have to get groceries or anything....that seems like it would be hard to enforce. What happens if you are out longer?

There is no official enforcement. That being said there is nowhere to go to other than out for a walk. Everything is closed except for supermarkets and pharmacies. Even takeaways are closed. And with the weather the last two weeks you are lucky to get two dry hours a day.
Living on such a small island people would know if you have been breaking the rules and would inform the relevant groups.
Max fine of £10,000 if you break quarantine rules if you enter the island or have a positive test. There have been a few fined / jailed for such offences.
