Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

I like night time parades because of all the synchronized lights. Day time parades, not so much.
Same. Night time parades are mildly entertaining due to the lights and music. Day time parades are boring. People get so excited about the dance party parades, or the current covid cavalcades, at Disney. I literally could not care less.

I also am "meh" on fireworks. Disney fireworks are an exception because they tell a story and have great music (I'm a very musically driven person... good music is what gets me hooked), but normal fireworks on the 4th of July are boring. I don't want random fireworks played not in sync or choreographed with music. Like I said, Disney gets it right with their timing and matching the fireworks to the music and story, etc.

Well, I'm glad at least they're still having it -- even a lighter version of the parade is better than none.

What I can't figure out is why it will take them 4 hours to show the event on TV, when, for example, the balloons are only going one block, tethered to trucks. I mean even the walking "handlers" for the balloons won't be there -- and that fact alone, would speed up the balloons down the one block only, of the street. What also stood out was the 75% drop in the employees who would usually work in the parade.

Although I'd prefer to see many different marching bands from across the country, I'm glad that they're still allowing some (local) marching bands in the parade.

Well, this year's parade will be something to see, that's for sure. Again, something is better than nothing.

I haven’t been to a circus in almost 20 years. My stance and society’s stance regarding live animals has changed, so I think the current experience would be very blah.

And I am probably the only person here who finds Cirque du Soleil B-O-R-I-N-G. 😲 Just not my cup of tea. My parents were huge fans and were hooked after seeing La Nouba in 2006. They saw multiple shows in Vegas and elsewhere.

Boring and a wee bit creepy actually. Double 😲, I know

I haven't ever seen a Cirque du Soleil show but I've seen clips of it on tv and its not my cup of tea either. I thought about maybe seeing the new Disney one when it opens but if I don't ever see it I won't lose any sleep over it.

As long as there is a performance by the Rockettes that's all that matters to me. Seeing them on the Macy's parade starts the Christmas season for me. :)

When it comes to Cirque... I'd really would like to see "LOVE" in Vegas. I was ok with Disney's show, but once was enough. The one at Disney was certainly "creepy".

It seems like I almost never see or hear anyone using that phrase correctly. Kudo's to you Mr. PUSH!

It's always mildly irked me when people say it the wrong way. I never understood how people didn't realize "I could care less" is totally opposite of what they're trying to say. Every time I say it, I am very intentional with my wording.

Watching a show on TV isn't even close to being there in person, when it comes to Cirque du Soleil. The talent of the people in these shows is outstanding, as they perform jaw-dropping routines. Any time I've seen their shows (once in Disney, once in Vegas -- "Mystere"), I've absolutely been in awe of the performers.

Why is it that every song the Neil Diamond sings sound like the same song. It's OK, but John had a lot more of a sarcastic feel to it in his original.
I love Lennon's version for sure. I think what gave Diamond's cover an edge in my book was how powerful the choir sounded at the end going along with his singing. Chills.

But yeah, you never have to twist my arm to get me to listen to Lennon's original. A lot to appreciate with it too.

While I'm in person, this rings very true. I had a kid tell me a story yesterday about how he got sad while cleaning his room, so his mom came in to snuggle with him. Or at least that's the relevant information he should have shared. What he really shared was that he got sad while cleaning, so his mom came in... he thinks she was in the bathroom... she was taking a poop... and then came in and snuggled with him.
I always had a lot of fun with my first and second graders. If I could teach just them, being a music teacher would have been the most awesome job ever. Get paid to play games and sing songs? Yes, PLEASE!! And they are so funny. Once they hit 3rd or 4th grade, that starts to wear off, and by 5th grade, they are too school for cool and you get the real goof offs who make it a real chore. But I loved how open the younger kids were...they get excited about EVERYTHING, and they were so sweet, always gave me hugs. And classroom management was so easy with the little ones. But I do remember the non-sequiturs. Like a kid suddenly announcing "My dog had puppies!" :hilarious: My husband and I were still dating, not technically engaged, but we already knew we'd get married. When he visited me, I had him come with me to school to teach the kids about popular Dutch music and such, and they all thought it was soooooo cool that he was from Europe. He showed them some Dutch money (Gilders, prior to Euros) and passed it around. He told them he knew exactly how much was there, so don't try to pocket it or he'd turn them upside down by the ankles. One of my fifth graders decided to test it, and he was just a tiny kid...my husband picked him up by the ankles and held him upside down until the money fell out. The kid said "You're going to marry that guy? That's SO COOL!!" I think that might have been about the only time that I liked the 5th graders. And every time my husband came to the school, one of my 2nd graders would say "Look! There's lover boy!" So much personality!!

It was fine, but I am a bit bias because I never cared at all for Diamond's music. So it is a personal preference type thing. Both are good.
