I feel a bit wiped out.....but my district is giving us tomorrow off.:) A 4 day Holiday weekend!
How about you two? How was your week? Are you working tomorrow or off?
I'm working tomorrow. The week has gone smoother than I expected, but still exhausting. My group of kids overall is really good. Our entire grade level is pretty great, actually. There are a couple in my class that will take a lot of my energy away, but it's nowhere near last year's group. Or my first year's group.

The hardest has been no prep time by myself. We have team planning times for 1 hour each day, which sounds great on paper, but it's actually really hard because we have no time for each teacher to work individually. I can't use my computer throughout the day because encore/specials teachers are always in our classrooms, and they need to use our computers. We have Chromebooks, but we can't print from them.

I'm pretty wiped out too and overwhelmed with having to do virtual and in person learning. Anyway we have school tomorrow but Monday off. I'm really looking forward to being lazy starting at 3:30 tomorrow!

I feel your pain at the planning time. We have to clean our rooms with cleaner that gives me a monster headache from the fumes during our prep , then there are questions and emails coming in from the virtual students to answer, then I get a few minutes for planning, then set up for the next class, and maybe a restroom break. I'm whining but I'm really stressed, but at least the kids so far haven't been any problems.

I will say, the kids have been such troopers through all of this. I have had no problems with masks. I was worried that was going to be a big issue. Honestly, the adults complain about them more than the kids. A lot more. What does that tell you?

We also have staff who are not following the directions, and it's ridiculous. We are supposed to be in separate areas for recess, and a couple of the kindergarten teachers thought that was ridiculous and just told their kids to go play wherever they want. So they mixed cohorts, which is what we are trying to avoid. It was totally unprofessional, and it was very out of line. To me, that would be grounds for disciplinary actions.

So really the kids have been amazing. It's certain adults who are going to cause things to shut down.

Yeah not a whole lot of mask issues with the middle school kids. I haven't had time to talk to any of my high school teacher friends to see if there has been there, oh I did hear a couple kids had inappropriate masks (with a certain flag) and were asked to change them or turn them inside out. The lunch ladies seem to have some mask issues too, but it's not my job to enforce it with fellow staff.

As a retired person I know what you mean... You have no idea how stressful it is to get up in the morning and have nothing to do. We can't even look forward to holidays, because, well, every day is one actually.

Just kidding with you guys! It is tough to be a teacher. I know because I was a student back in the smoking in the restroom and spit ball days. I'm pretty sure that I created a lot of gray hairs on many a dedicated teacher. This is a tough year for you folks, but it will end at some point and think of the stories you can tell your future students. Enjoy your time off. @PUSH @ajrwdwgirl @SteveBrickNJ

9 more days until my Philadelphia Eagles start the season, Yet this year I don't seem to care. This forum has a Packers fan and a Vikings fan....other teams also. Does anyone care that the NFL is starting soon?

Nope! I mean my husband is excited for to watch the Bears but it's not really on the radar this year.
I'm happy for PUSH but personally I'm more in the "distracted camp"....distracted by teaching during a Pandemic....and additionally, my only "child" is a college freshman. It's hard to care about the NFL THIS year...for me anyway....that's why I asked. Let's see how the ratings are the first couple of weeks.

I celebrated National Read a Book Day a bit early. I just finished the book I was reading. That's why I haven't been here for a couple of days.
