Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

I am a huge supporter of kids participating in music programs. They learn teamwork, discipline, attention to detail - and oh yeah - how to play an instrument. The may not always SOUND perfect but it’s really not about that. It’s more about the journey and the participation and developing a sense of pride in working together to produce something they can be proud of. I think it’s awesome you have such a strong music background in your family!

When I was a kid, I took piano lessons, but they were private -- not associated with the school. There were two other kids in my class that also took lessons, and lessons were held at the house of the woman. I loved piano lesson afternoon, and only partly due to learning the piano.

Since each kid had an hour lesson, the other two kids could watch cartoons and 3 Stooges reruns on TV in her livingroom; and we could also help ourselves to ice cream in her freezer. :hungry: :joyfull: (My mother thought I was doing homework, while waiting for my piano lesson. :hilarious: )

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
So does that mean restaurants aren't going to reopen? Or is it going to be exclusively walk ups?
I believe it’s a giant reset.

Rather than eenie meenie miney mo whose ADR’s (and FPP’s) get cancelled on which days, they’re clearing the Bingo cards and starting over. I’m not sure anyone knows exactly how it’s going to work, as you will require a reservation to get into the actual park ... let alone the restaurant.

All ADR’s until the end of the year are being erased; unless that has changed since I went to bed.

I’m quite sure park-hopping is no more for a while as well. You may not even be guaranteed entry into one park each day.

I wonder when the Adrs will be deleted, mine are still showing for August. Not that I expect them to stay. I also read a release that was posted by a travel agency that said they are moving away from 180 days to reserve to a 60 day system. Disneyland has a 60 day system and I think that is enough. But I guess we will see how it all goes.

The obsessive planning every second of your day - six months in advance, might just be coming to an end. That might not be a bad thing.

I’ve already said that we’re not going this year. This just makes it easier to swallow.

Do you still play? I am so disappointed with my daughter. She took lessons for a few years and got pretty good. She played in a number of group recitals, but as it turned out, she hated it. She was in Elementary School at the time and when she went into high school she stopped and joined the Madrigals (Acappella group in HS). They were very good, but, she never touched another piano to this day. When my wife and I divorced, she got the magnificent 100 year old piano that had been in my wife's family for generations. It was in her living room for at least 10 years but never attempted to play it. When they moved down here they didn't bring it and I assumed that they sold it or gave it back to her Mother. Turns out they moved it out of the house into a storage barn on their property and for all I know it is still there, but I don't think it has much hope of being able to be restored at this point. Eleven years is a long time for a beautiful musical instrument to sit in non insulated or weatherproofed barn. The whole situation saddens me. I always wished I could play Piano and she has just thrown away that talent and a beautiful upright piano. I think it reminded her to much of her Mother and at the time she was enormously angry with her. Life, is so freaking complicated sometimes. They don't own the property anymore so it is now the current owners property. I guess they might have found it and taken it inside, but what are the chances of that.

Even Disney isn't worth such a headache.

My year with the kids is officially done. I still have to work next week, but students finished today.

Next Friday is our kids official last day. I’m not posting any new assignments though. I’m using next week as a make up work week and a lot of my students have a decent amount to catch up on. I have 4 kids that have done nothing, but I suppose 4 out of 140 students isn’t too terrible of odds.

I could play the piano again, if I had a piano and practiced for a while. Once I left home in my early 20s, the piano stayed there in my parents' livingroom. I've moved so many times since, and it's not easy lugging around a Baby Grand. (That's the downside of not picking a more compact musical instrument, like a violin, to learn as a kid.) ;)

We were supposed to end next week, but our school board voted to end the year early to give staff a chance to do end of year paperwork, pack up rooms, complete 13 hours of Google Suite training, etc. I've already done all of that. The only thing I have to do yet this year is be at school from 9-12 on Monday and 3-6 on Tuesday to help with end of year pick up and drop off.

Honestly, I think families, students and staff are so ready to be done with this year. Virtual learning is not fun. The more I do it, the more it reminds me how we aren't doing real school. I'm so tired of Google Meets. I am hoping we are back in school in some capacity in the fall.

we have about 450 seniors

Beginning on June 1, there will be a series of stations set up for students and their families to return chrome books, textbooks, library books and other school issued items. Students will also be permitted to retrieve their belongings from their school lockers. The schedule will run alphabetically as follows:

Date Last Name & Time to Report Last Name & Time to Report
Monday, June 1 9:00 – 12:00: Last Names A-D 1:00 – 4:00: Last Names E-H
Tuesday , June 2 9:00 – 12:00: Last Names I –L 1:00 – 4:00: Last Names M-P
Wednesday, June 3 9:00 – 12:00: Last Names Q-T 1:00 – 4:00: Last Names U-Z

administration will adhere to physical distancing requirements; therefore, you may have to wait until the party before you have exited the building. To maintain health and safety during this process, all persons will be required to wear masks and gloves during the exchange of materials. Please adhere to personnel as you arrive on campus.

Once you are cleared, please pull around to the front of the building. If you do not need to clean out your locker you can pull up to the curb and remain in your vehicle. Someone will collect items from you and bring your yearbook and cap and gown to you. If you need to clean out your locker, you should park your car in the stadium lot and enter the building through the main entrance. You will be escorted to your locker for clean out.

Due to the number of students, please adhere to your appointed time slot. We will stage the items according to the schedule above. If you miss your appointed time, you will receive your items during the week of June 15 or June 22.

During the weeks of June 15 and June 22, the High School administration is committed to providing you an opportunity to celebrate your accomplishments and will afford you the opportunity to walk across the stage in your cap and gown for a photo opportunity

The solution to that is a keyboard. It takes very little space and the new ones sound exactly like a piano. You can tuck it under your arm and take it anywhere you go. Maybe you should ask Santa for one this Christmas, just leave some milk and store bought cookies for the old guy. I heard you weren't the best cook so some Costco Chocolate Chips will do the trick.

For this process to run smoothly we ask that you follow the guidelines listed below:

1. Please pull your vehicle up to the front gym entrance. A staff member will greet the senior and assist with carry items into the building.
2. Report directly to the gym area to the drop off area.
3. Return all textbooks at the appropriate station, remain at the station to be cleared by staff member.
4. All other school issued items such as library books, calculators, etc. will located at the next station. You will be given an index card to list the items that you are returning.
5. Place your Chromebook and charger at the station and wait to be cleared by the staff member. If you received two devices, please be sure to return both items to the station.
6. If you have athletic equipment, ROTC uniforms or band uniforms, please place each in a separate bag and label the bag with your last name and first name.
7. All musical instruments can also be returned. Please label the instrument with your name.
8. Report to the Auditorium. Your name will be called, you will walk across the stage in your cap and gown. Photos will be taken and posted to social media for your enjoyment and downloading needs. Please do not forget your cap and gown. Due to safety concerns, there will not be items available for your use.
9. Exit the auditorium and report to the Art room for your diploma and final report card. Once these items are received you must exit the building. Proceed around the front of the school on the stadium side.
10. You will be permitted to take photos in the front of the building. Please follow the directives of the staff as time will be limited for safety reasons
