@trr1 , We in NJ are now supposed to wear face masks when we go to the market for groceries. Even though we are healthy with no symptoms we are supposed to do it anyway. In case we are "silent....non symptomatic carriers". NJ has had well over 1,500 deaths from Covid-19. Recently I wish I lived in rural America. I bet they are not wearing masks in Iowa or Nebraska.
Is Pennsylvania doing that?

People are wearing masks in rural communities, too. Not mandatory, but strongly recommended.

Sorry, this post turned out longer than intended... I kind of went on a rant.

Ours do not keep the school clean. They don't go above and beyond. Our head custodian for our school does not budget for enough trash bags for the year. So we can possibly have the same trash bag in our garbage can for 2 weeks before they change it out. It's gross.

We submit "help tickets" when we need something fixed. I've had a closet door off the track for well over a year. He has never come to fix it.

Our bathrooms are gross. Last year we had some boy, not sure who, who would go an pee on the floor in the corner of the bathroom. Despite mutliple tickets and phone calls, it sat there all day before it got cleaned up.

One of our night custodians supposedly mopped a table to clean it. Yes, that's right MOPPED a table. You know, the same mop they use on the bathroom floors.

When there is an emergency clean up (vomit, or such), they will page a custodian to the office. The night custodian on my end of the building says he just ignores them when he's called.

We only get our carpets vacuumed once a week (at least that's how the schedule goes... often it is ignored and only done every couple weeks), and we are told they will only vacuum one of our carpets. The younger grade levels tend to have multiple carpets in their rooms.

When I was at a meeting, some boy from another grade level ran in my room and peed on the floor. Our custodian let it sit there for over an hour while he went out to get McDonalds for lunch, then came and ate it. So I had to bring my class back in after lunch to a room that had pee on the floor. Then when he came in, all he did was mop it up and spread it around. No disinfecting or anything.

Our rooms are often skipped when the night custodian comes by. I think he doesn't remember if he's done them or not, then just skips them. Once there was a goldfish on the floor from after snack. I intentionally left it there to see how long it would take before it got swept up. Over a week. If the pathway is too narrow for his large dust mop, he skips it.

Our sinks are not the best designed. When kids poor milk in them, there is not enough of a slope for it to go down the drain, so it sits there and curdles. I could count on one hand how often the sink gets clean in a year.

We lost access to the maintenance room to grab paper towels and soap on our own, so now when we need them refilled, we have to wait until the end of the day for the night custodian to refill it. Even if it's during the middle of the day. Unless we hunt down the day custodian, who is often nowhere to be found. And after school the night custodian typically does not check the soap or paper towels unless I say something. And even then he forgets. Even if I open up the paper towel dispenser for him to clearly see.

Our day custodian is often found watching Netflix in his office.

It's very frustrating. Especially when I have a friend who teaches in a school about 20 miles away. She says her custodians vacuum her carpets daily, leave absolutely nothing on the floors, and even paint the handrails of the stairs. So different.
You're not making the people of Wisconsin sound real responsible. To much cheese consumption maybe? Makes them a little sluggish? Underpaid? Overworked? Poor moral? Bad attitude? Does anyone know what the problem is?

The problem is them. No offense to them, but they are not ones who care about their jobs. Apparently at all the other schools in the district, custodial staff is phenomenal. When you go in the buildings you can tell how clean it is. The elementary building always gets the short end of the stick in our district. There aren't as many sporting events there, so it's not as much in the public eye.

Finally, a few answers about why there is still a shortage of toilet paper!!

There is a reason, but it isn't a good one. I have three large grocery stores close by that have had absolutely nothing in there TP aisles for over three weeks. The hoarders have already hoarded and yet the shelves are still empty. Something else is happening. Are they shipping what they are producing to cities in alphabetical order? Is all of it being sent to D.C. to try and absorb all the bull.... that is accumulating there? You would think if they were still receiving shipments even by accident I would have seen one or two rolls on the shelves. It is either the manufacturers or the stores or someone that is holding back or not limiting the numbers that people are buying. There is just so much of that stuff that can be used. And if it is the Residential vs. the commercial users then make the excess commercial stockpile go to the residential areas. Even the single ply is better then using your fingers.

Prior to the COVID situation, we had rather unfortunate rail blockades nation-wide, for political reasons I will not get into.

We were going to have shortages of all kinds of products anyway.

Did you get a chance to watch the link I posted? It explained the reasons for the shortage.

Now, some people might still be hoarding, but the point is that not enough consumer packages are being made, due to the commercial TP factories having different equipment.

If they change over their equipment to the consumer product, they'll probably lose money for the conversion, if people start going back to work, etc. -- and using commercial TP in buildings, etc.

The Feds here have finally released their projections. When this is all said and done, many, many months down the road ... best case scenario - 11,000 deaths; worst case scenario - 22,000 deaths.

Horrific numbers either way, but it’s up to us to aim low.

Then sell us the commercial product that no one is buying. It's really a no brainer. Bad paper is better then no paper.

I thought that, too. But even with that, there are packaging, shipping, and other issues that we wouldn't normally think of, apparently. I have little sympathy for their issues -- it seems to me that they could still make a decent sale with such a sought-after item. I'm sure if they gave it more thought, they could certainly come up with some sort of interim solution here.

The house down the street from me just got two large boxes of something delivered today. It was from a cleaning/custodial company. I'm wondering if they ordered commercial TP? They own a business that's closed right now, so they might have already had the hook up.
