I think we are a long way away from that scenario. None of them closed when the regular flu hits and that kills 25,000 people per year. About (just guessing) 85% of the population would have to be flat on their backs near death before merchants could afford to shut down. The advantage or disadvantage, depending on ones perspective, to being an alleged first world nation. I believe it was FDR that stated, "we have nothing to fear but fear itself."
As I was typing this, a notice came up on my phone stating that so far Florida has two confirmed deaths due to the virus. Florida is a haven for the elderly, I know I'm one, and I will bet that many die in Florida just standing up to quickly. It is cause for concern and should be incentive to make sure that everything is being done, properly, to protect as many of us as possible.
