Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Woo hoo, the last of the John’s Pass saltwater taffy is finally gone!*

* Only because Ski stashed it all in his room and I couldn’t negotiate the piles of laundry baskets (both clean and dirty) at the bottom of the stairs.**

** Still can’t, but Mike was willing to play fetch.

Yes please!!
Our neighborhood is also very diverse. The neighbors on both sides of us are from Turkey, across the street is a woman from....the Phillipines? And around the corner is a Polish family. And my daughter has a neighbor girl over to tutor her in English as we speak...they are Iranian. (It always smells fantastic when we walk by their house.) When DD was in elementary school, there were kids from Aruba, Somalia, Morocco, Turkey, Syria, Poland...every year for Christmas, they do a sort of pot luck dinner and they encouraged kids to bring traditional foods from their country of origin. Always interesting to see what everyone brought.

Well it looks like a lot of the interior is still intact..I love that Pieta statue. Unpopular opinion: I'm not fond of Notre Dame as a religious place of worship...I prefer the older Saint Germain Des Prés over the pomp and circumstance of Notre Dame, though ND is gorgeous. I think the tragedy lies more in the loss of the historic landmark...everyone knows Notre Dame and you can't really go to Paris without seeing it. It's definitely fantastic and ornate and worth the time to see it. But it didn't feel like a church to me...it felt more like a museum. That being said, how do you replace something like that? Like that museum in...I want to say Brazil about 6 months ago? So much history, so many treasures that now no one will ever get to see and enjoy. It's so sad. I'm glad so much of the interior was preserved at Notre Dame, but it will never be the same again, even after they rebuild it. You can never get that history back.

I've been thinking about this a lot since the fire, and I really have issues with the whole rebuilding thing. To me, Notre Dame was impressive certainly as a cathedral, but moreso because of its rich history. Whenever I see older buildings like that, even here in the USA, I marvel at the people who designed them, who built them, and maintained them without all the fantastic technology we have today. Will I feel the same about a rebuilt version, designed on a computer, and constructed by machines? I don't know, but I suspect not. JMHO

Fun fact: I really thought about going to a Chase Rice concert just because I knew him from Survivor. Did I like him on Survivor? No. Do I really like his music? No. But he was on Survivor.
